Role:
The Mortgage Loan Processor/Closer is responsible for building relationships by processing and closing secondary market, portfolio and home equity mortgages and managing the production pipeline to meet closing deadlines.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for complying with all laws, statutes, rules and regulations which govern the credit union, including but not limited to all components of the Bank Secrecy Act.
- Represent the Credit Union in a courteous professional manner, while providing prompt, efficient and accurate service.
- Provide member service in person, electronically and by telephone, general and specific service-related information concerning mortgage and Credit Union services.
- Respond to member requests, problems and complaints in a timely manner. Direct them, as necessary, to the proper person for specific information and assistance.
- Responsible for mortgage lending functions to include:
- Reviews mortgage loan applications to verify data is complete and correct
- Complete applications and gather supporting documents when necessary
- Determine if compliance, standards and loan requirements are met
- Verify debt, income, ratios, assets and length of employment
- Collect appraisal fee, credit report fee, any other fees
- Order payoffs, flood certifications, appraisals, insurance coverage, etc.
- Submit loans to Underwriting and clear conditions
- Maintain orderly and accurate files with attention to compliance standards
- Proactively communicate with Member, MLO, Attorney and other parties
- Review and approve CD, Title Work, etc.
- Coordinate closings with attorney/title company and member
- Guarantee on time closings by completing all required pre-closing steps
- Produce closing packages
- Disburse loans and order wires
- Process sales/assignments to Investors
- Complete reporting and tracking
- Maintain and service the existing mortgage loan portfolio
- Act in accordance with all Credit Union guidelines
- Answer general questions related to mortgages and other Credit Union services.
- Keep abreast of changes in mortgage lending.
- Assist with various projects and assignments including updating policies and procedures.
- Actively participate in meetings to discuss changes, areas in need of improvement and complete training while providing respectful feedback.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Credit Union management.
Requirements
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience
Two years to five years of similar or related experience.
Education
A high school education or GED.
