Performs histology and immunohistochemistry in a certified, clinical environment.Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepares histology sections by processing tissue and embedding, cutting, and staining prepared sections.
- Prepares and changes solutions and reagents.
- Performs automated and manual immunohistochemistry assays.
- Applies standard operating procedures and protocols under the direction of the medical director, laboratory manager, or higher-level technologist.
- Troubleshoots procedural and technical problems.
- Performs data entry of patient and specimen information and carefully documents all assays.
- Maintains supply and chemical inventories.
- Complies with all regulatory requirements for patient testing and documentation with established safety procedures.
- Ensures lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained and records kept in accordance with established procedures.
- Acts as a technical resource for students, trainees and residents.
- Assists supervisor with other duties and special projects as needed.
