The Project Manager, Finance, leads the financial workstreams supporting mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions. This role coordinates cross-functional planning, due diligence, integration readiness, and post-close execution to help ensure transactions meet financial, operational, and strategic objectives.
The Project Manager partners with Corporate Development, Finance, Accounting, Legal, Tax, Human Resources, Information Technology, Operations, and business leaders to manage timelines, dependencies, risks, governance, and deliverables throughout the transaction lifecycle.
This is a 2 years fixed term contract, that could be extended to permanent.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
- Manage finance-related project plans for acquisitions, mergers and other strategic transactions.
- Define project scope, milestones, workstreams, deliverables, decision points, and ownership across the transaction lifecycle.
- Coordinate financial due diligence, data requests, and readiness activities.
- Maintain project timelines, action logs, dependency trackers, and stakeholder communications.
- Facilitate regular project meetings, steering-committee updates, and cross-functional working sessions.
- Identify schedule, resource, financial, and execution risks; and escalation where needed.
Integration Planning and Execution
- Lead finance integration planning from pre-close readiness through post-close stabilization.
- Establish integration milestones, reporting cadences, issue-management procedures, and success measures.
- Partner with systems and data teams to support finance-system integration, data migration, reporting alignment, and control readiness.
- Track integration costs, synergies, savings initiatives, and financial performance against the approved business case.
Governance, Controls, and Reporting
- Support coordination with Legal, Tax, Compliance, and Internal Audit.
- Prepare clear status reports, updates, and presentations.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including key assumptions, decisions, risks, issues, and lessons learned.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Partner with Corporate Development and finance leaders to align transaction priorities with strategic objectives.
- Work closely with Accounting, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Procurement, Human Resources, IT, and Operations to coordinate finance deliverables.
- Build effective working relationships with acquired-company stakeholders, external consultants, auditors, and advisors.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
- Experience in project management within finance, corporate development, mergers and acquisitions, transaction services, consulting, or financial transformation.
- Knowledge of financial statements, accounting processes, financial controls, and business-case development.
- Experience coordinating cross-functional initiatives with multiple stakeholders, deadlines, and dependencies.
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to manage confidential information and exercise sound judgment in sensitive business situations.
- Proficiency with project-management tools and financial reporting or analysis tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level presentation experience.
