The Role
Implementation of behavior analytic educational and treatment programs of individual children in the classroom, under the direction of the Classroom Supervisory Educator, Director of Special Education, Clinical Director, Supervising Behavior Analyst and a designated Lead Behavior Analyst, Behavior Analyst and/or Behavior Specialist. Collect data within individual child measurement systems and participate in data management. The Lead Behavior Technician will participate as a member of student treatment teams as directed by the Director of Special Education, Clinical Director, Supervising Behavior Analyst, Lead Behavior Analyst, Behavior Analyst, Behavior Specialist and Supervisory Educator
Essential Work Duties and Responsibilities
- Protect the rights and dignities of individuals with developmental disabilities and extend these rights and dignities to family members or guardians.
- Upholds and complies with all safety programs and policies to maintain a safe work environment for employees, consumers, family members and visitors.
- Commits to organizational quality initiatives by participating in programs that will assure quality improvements and team processes.
- Implement instructional strategies consistently and accurately.
- Implements behavioral measurement systems and collects data.
- Communicates any medical, physical, or other changes in student status to teacher, BA and nursing staff.
- Implement teaching programs in a positive, supportive, and proactive manner at all times.
- Coordinate classroom activities when Classroom Teacher is absent, as designated by the Special Education Director, Program Director or Classroom Teacher.
- Essential functions and principle duties and responsibilities:

- Commit to organizational quality initiatives by participating in programs that will assure quality improvements and team processes. Implement instructional strategies consistently and accurately as prescribed by the Director of Special Education, Clinical Director, Supervising Behavior Analyst, Lead Behavior Analyst, Behavior Analyst, Behavior Specialist and Supervisory Educator.
- Assist with preparation/implementation of student IEPs.
- Implement behavioral measurement systems.
- Implement teaching programs in a positive, supportive, and proactive manner at all times.
- Coordinate classroom activities when Supervisory Educator is absent, according to established protocol.
- Assist in the preparation/facilitation of student group activities.
- Create/organize classroom schedule and daily student lesson plans/materials.
- Responsible for any/all evacuation procedures.
- Participate in interview process relating to Behavior Technician position, as requested by Supervisory Educator / Behavior Analyst.
- Assist in the training of newly hired behavior technicians.
- Responsible for implementing all aspects of child’s educational program, including self-care and toileting skills.
- Implement child educational program in inclusive settings in public education or other educational environments. (This requires transportation to and from such locations).
- Assist in gathering data for progress reports.
- Responsible for working with individuals 6-21 years of age.
- Responsible for passing the school approved Crisis Management System and maintaining the certification.
- Responsible for obtaining CPR certification and maintaining the certification.
- Communicate any medical, physical, or other changes in student status to teacher and nursing staff.
- Responsible for performing other duties and job assignments as required by the Director of Special Education, Supervising Behavior Analyst, Lead Behavior Analyst, Behavior Analyst, Behavior Specialist and Supervisory Educator.
- Will monitor bus/student AM arrival and PM departure on a daily basis with other Lead BTs.

Internal - Pathways students and employees; Crayons students and staff; Trudeau staff.
External – Parents, families receiving services; students/staff of public schools and other education professionals directly involved in some component of a child’s teaching/treatment program.
Working Conditions:
Office and classroom conditions working directly with students and staff; work with students will include teaching self-care skills (e.g., toileting). In addition, work can be conducted in public school settings and individual family homes, requiring transportation to and from such locations. Additional considerations include work with computers.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
Ability to deal with the broad range of needs presented by children with autism, including significant problem behaviors. Must be able to work with children in situations involving physical contact. Work will often include sitting in small chairs or on the floor and require rapid movement (sometimes running) to address safety and teaching needs of children.
Education/Experience/Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in education or special education or a related field preferred.
Three years’ experience working with children in a special education classroom or setting preferred.
Must be amenable to instruction, able to follow specific directions of supervisor(s), and receptive to feedback.
Must be capable and ready to assume leadership duties during working hours.
Good interpersonal skills are essential.
Must have basic computer knowledge.
Must have valid driver’s license, automobile insurance and own the vehicle to be used, as directed, to provide transportation.
