Job Summary

Nextpower is seeking an experienced Sr. Product Applications Engineer- DFM&DFA Support to support product application engineering, production drawing verification, product testing, and manufacturing-readiness activities.

The successful candidate will work closely with design, manufacturing, quality, sourcing, suppliers, and field teams to ensure products are functional, manufacturable, easy to assemble, and suitable for customer and project requirements. This role requires strong experience in engineering drawing review, Design for Manufacturing, Design for Assembly, product validation, and technical issue resolution.

Key Responsibilities

·       Review production drawings, CAD models, specifications, and bills of materials for accuracy and completeness.

·       Perform DFM and DFA reviews to identify manufacturing and assembly risks.

·       Verify dimensions, tolerances, materials, finishes, fasteners, interfaces, weld details, and assembly requirements.

·       Recommend design improvements to reduce manufacturing complexity, assembly time, cost, rework, and quality issues.

·       Plan and support Form-Fit-Function testing, prototype evaluation, R&D yard testing, and field validation.

·       Investigate customer, supplier, manufacturing, and installation-related product issues.

·       Lead or support root-cause analysis and corrective-action activities.

·       Provide technical support to design, manufacturing, quality, sourcing, suppliers, and project teams.

·       Prepare drawing-review reports, test reports, technical recommendations, procedures, and engineering documentation.

·       Support engineering changes, new product introduction, supplier reviews, and production-readiness activities.

·       Support continuous improvement and value-engineering initiatives focused on product quality, manufacturability, assembly efficiency, and cost reduction.

·       Develop and improve internal DFM/DFA guidelines, drawing-review checklists, and design-verification standards.

·       Collaborate closely with design engineering, manufacturing engineering, quality, sourcing, operations, project engineering, field service, and product management teams.

·       Participate in customer, project, vendor, and internal engineering discussions when technical clarification is required.

·       Track engineering issues, review comments, corrective actions, and technical deliverables through closure

·       Work with suppliers and manufacturing teams to resolve drawing clarification, manufacturability, component quality, and production-related concerns.

Required Qualifications

·       Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, Production, Industrial, or a related engineering discipline.

·       4-6 years of experience in product applications, mechanical design, manufacturing engineering, product validation, or production support.

·       Strong knowledge of DFM, DFA, engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerances, materials, and manufacturing processes.

·       Experience with fabricated, machined, welded, sheet-metal, or assembled mechanical components.

·       Hands-on experience with product testing, dimensional inspection, and measuring tools.

·       Working knowledge of CAD tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar software.

·       Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

·       Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with Jira, Arena, PLM, or similar engineering systems.

·       Willingness to travel occasionally to manufacturing, supplier, customer, or project locations.

·       Experience in renewable energy, solar products, structural systems, industrial equipment, automotive, aerospace, or electromechanical products will be a plus.

·       Familiarity with FMEA, first-article inspection, supplier-quality processes, and engineering change management is a plus.
