About this role

Grant Thornton Australia is seeking a Legal Counsel to join our National In-house Legal Team on a 14-month fixed-term contract.

This broad and highly engaging role will suit a commercial lawyer who brings strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills, sound commercial judgement and a pragmatic approach to legal solutions.

Key responsibilities

·  Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts

·  Advise and support Senior Legal Counsel and the General Counsel on M&A, property, litigation, employment and regulatory matters

·  Identify and implement practical legal and process efficiencies

·  Collaborate with Legal, Risk, Compliance and Independence to deliver commercially relevant advice

·  Identify emerging legal and industry risks and recommend mitigation strategies

·  Educate colleagues on legal and commercial risk through training, guidance, policies and manuals

Skills & experience

·  Current Australian legal practising certificate

·  4-7 years’ post-qualification experience in private practice or in-house

·  Commercial contract drafting, negotiation and advisory experience

·  Strong stakeholder engagement, analytical and critical thinking skills

·  Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver strong business outcomes
