Description
Boys & Girls Haven is a Louisville nonprofit serving youth and families through residential care, independent living support, counseling, and other programs. Our facilities include the main campus and satellite locations where young people live, learn, and receive support.
We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on Senior Maintenance Technician to help keep those spaces safe, functional, and welcoming. This role handles a wide range of repairs and preventive maintenance and supports larger projects across our facilities, vehicles, equipment, and grounds.
What You’ll Do
Complete general repairs and maintenance, including carpentry, drywall, plumbing, basic electrical work, painting, landscaping, and mechanical tasks.
Follow maintenance schedules, complete work orders, and respond promptly to repair requests and emergencies.
Inspect buildings, vehicles, and equipment; report damage, deficiencies, and needed repairs.
Maintain walkways, entrances, and parking areas, including during inclement weather.
Assist with renovations and larger projects, and coordinate assigned work with teammates and other departments.
Keep accurate records of completed work, inspections, supplies, and preventive maintenance.
Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas, vehicles, tools, and equipment.
Coordinate furniture and donation pickups and deliveries, and support agency events, volunteer projects, and campus-wide work as assigned.
Communicate professionally with staff, leadership, youth, volunteers, and visitors.
Follow safety procedures, use required protective equipment, and operate vehicles and equipment safely.
Participate in department meetings and required training. On-call, evening, weekend, holiday, or other-shift work may be needed.
Schedule
Core schedule: Wednesday - Sunday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Evening, weekend, holiday, and on-call hours may be required as needed.
What You’ll Bring
High school diploma or equivalent; trade or vocational training preferred.
At least 5 years of applicable skilled-trade or maintenance experience.
A valid driver’s license and the ability to meet Boys & Girls Haven’s vehicle insurance requirements.
Strong organization, communication, and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
The ability to work independently and collaboratively, solve practical problems, and stay composed in stressful situations.
Comfort working around youth and maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
Basic computer skills, including the ability to use Microsoft Office and agency databases.
The ability to climb ladders and stairs, bend, kneel, reach, and move throughout the workday, and lift, carry, push, or pull up to 80 pounds.
Must be at least 21 years old and legally authorized to work in the United States.
Why This Role Matters
The Senior Maintenance Technician helps create safe, dependable spaces where youth can focus on their well-being and future. Your work supports the daily operations of programs across Boys & Girls Haven.
