Position Summary

The Executive Director, Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR) will provide strategic leadership for the development and execution of health economics, outcomes research, real-world evidence, patient-reported outcomes and evidence synthesis strategies across Travere Therapeutics’ nephrology portfolio, including FILSPARI® (sparsentan), civorebrutinib, and future pipeline assets.

This individual will be responsible for developing an integrated evidence strategy that demonstrates the clinical, humanistic, and economic value of Travere’s therapies throughout the product lifecycle. The Executive Director will partner closely with Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Market Access, Commercial, Regulatory Affairs, Biostatistics, and other cross-functional partners to identify evidence needs and ensure generation of high-quality data that supports scientific exchange, patient access, clinical development, and future value demonstration.

The Executive Director will serve as the senior HEOR expert for the Nephrology Franchise and will help shape the long-range evidence strategy for marketed and development-stage assets.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead the HEOR and value evidence strategy across Travere’s nephrology portfolio, including FILSPARI, civorebrutinib, and future pipeline assets.
  • Develop integrated evidence-generation plans that address clinical, economic, humanistic, and healthcare decision-maker evidence needs across the product lifecycle.
  • Partner closely with Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Regulatory, and Biostatistics to identify evidence gaps and ensure HEOR priorities are incorporated into broader asset and franchise strategies.
  • Lead health economic research, including cost-effectiveness, budget impact, cost-of-illness, healthcare resource utilization, and other analyses that support understanding of the value of Travere therapies.
  • Develop and execute real-world evidence studies leveraging existing data sources, including administrative claims, electronic medical records, registries, and other healthcare databases, to characterize disease burden, treatment patterns, patient journeys, healthcare resource utilization, and clinical outcomes.
  • Lead the patient-reported outcomes strategy, including selection, development, validation, and incorporation of fit-for-purpose PRO measures into clinical development and evidence-generation programs where appropriate.
  • Partner with Clinical Development to incorporate HEOR and outcomes research considerations early in development, including study design, endpoint strategy, evidence gaps, and future access needs.
  • Identify opportunities to complement clinical trial evidence with epidemiology, real-world data, health economics, and patient-centered outcomes research.
  • Develop evidence that supports payer and health technology assessment needs and contributes to value dossiers, reimbursement submissions, and other access-related evidence requirements.
  • Anticipate future evidence needs and establish research plans that support new indications, lifecycle opportunities, and future nephrology assets.
  • Partner with external research collaborations, data partners, research organizations, and other external experts.
  • Develop and oversee HEOR publication plans and ensure timely dissemination of research through peer-reviewed publications, scientific congresses, and other appropriate scientific channels.
  • Represent Travere externally with HEOR researchers, nephrology experts, academic collaborators, and other scientific stakeholders.
  • Serve as an internal subject matter expert on health economics, outcomes research, real-world evidence, and patient-centered outcomes, providing strategic guidance to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Manage external vendors, research partners, budgets, timelines, and project execution to ensure high-quality and timely delivery of HEOR initiatives.
  • Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, industry standards, company policies, and Travere compliance requirements.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Advanced degree in health economics, outcomes research, epidemiology, public health, health services research, pharmacy, medicine, biostatistics, or a related discipline required; PhD, PharmD, MD, ScD, DrPH, or equivalent advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • 12+ years of progressively responsible experience in HEOR, real-world evidence, outcomes research, market access evidence, or related disciplines within the biopharmaceutical industry, consulting, academia, or a combination thereof.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing HEOR and evidence-generation strategies for marketed and/or development-stage assets.
  • Strong experience using real-world healthcare data, including claims, EMR/EHR, registries, and other large healthcare databases.
  • Experience with health economic modeling, burden-of-illness research, healthcare resource utilization, epidemiology, and observational research.
  • Experience with patient-reported outcomes and clinical outcomes assessments, including instrument selection, development, validation, and implementation.
  • Experience developing evidence to support payer, reimbursement, and health technology assessment needs.
  • Experience in nephrology, rare disease, specialty therapeutics, or progressive chronic diseases strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated record of scientific publications and presentations in HEOR, outcomes research, epidemiology, real-world evidence, or related fields.

Additional Skills/Experience/Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of payer and healthcare decision-maker evidence needs.
  • Ability to translate clinical and business questions into rigorous, decision-relevant evidence-generation programs.
  • Strong strategic thinking with the ability to anticipate evidence needs and connect research priorities to clinical development and product strategy.
  • Ability to work effectively across functions and influence senior leaders and cross-functional partners without direct authority.
  • Strong scientific judgment, analytical skills, and commitment to research quality and scientific integrity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex evidence clearly to scientific and non-scientific audiences.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, budget management, and vendor management capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and evolving organization.
