Network Support Technician

About The Role

Provide onsite first line network support for our manufacturing environment. You will troubleshoot Layer 1 and Layer 2 issues, install and replace network hardware, and escalate complex problems to senior engineers. This role is onsite 5 days a week in our Secaucus, NJ office.

What You Will Do

• Support production floors, labs, warehouses, and server rooms onsite

• Troubleshoot packet loss, link drops, interface errors, and wrong VLANs, and collect diagnostics (counters, logs, show command output) for tickets

• Check cabling, patch panels, switch ports, speed and duplex, transceivers, and MAC address tables, and monitor switch health with network tools

• Install and replace switches, access points, SFP modules, patch panels, and racks

• Log tickets using ITIL workflows, get change approval before touching production, and escalate Layer 3, firewall, OT/PLC, and security issues

• Join the after hours, weekend, and 2nd/3rd shift rotation for 7x24 plant coverage

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience

• 2+ years supporting enterprise or manufacturing networks at Layer 1 and Layer 2, including hands-on experience with Palo Alto and Cisco

• Working knowledge of TCP/IP, subnetting, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, Ethernet switching, and SNMP and Syslog monitoring

• Hands-on racking, stacking, and cabling experience with copper (Cat5e/Cat6) and fiber

• Comfortable on an active plant floor and willing to follow PPE and safety rules

• Clear written and verbal communication with floor operators and IT

ZT Systems, a Sanmina Company,  assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package is created for all our employees. The typical base salary for this position is expected to be between $60,750 and $81,000 annually. If hired, the final base salary will be determined on an individual basis taking into consideration experience, skills, knowledge, education and/or certifications.
