Job Summary
As a Marine Electrician, you’ll be part of a skilled team responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining the electrical, electronic, and communication systems aboard high-performance vessels. The ideal candidate will have experience with marine electrical systems, wiring, electrical schematics, and diagnostic equipment. Responsibilities
- Electrical Installation: Install wiring, fixtures, panels, and equipment for electrical systems, including radar, GPS, antennas, motors, pumps, switches, and other marine electrical equipment.
- Wiring & Systems: Wire and connect electrical, electronic, and communication systems, completing circuitry and testing systems using multimeters, voltmeters, and other electrical testing equipment.
- Blueprints & Schematics: Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and electronic system problems and develop effective solutions for challenging installations and repairs.
- Installation: Drill holes in bulkheads, cabinetry, and other areas as necessary to install wiring, panels, fixtures, and equipment.
- Project Planning: Interpret work orders, plan projects, and develop material lists necessary for project completion.
- Customer Service: May interact directly with clients and provide professional customer service and communication.
- Safety Compliance: Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work area.
- Quality: Perform all work to Hinckley quality standards.
- Other: All duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Proficiency with electrical testing equipment, hand tools, and power tools, including drills, saws, drill press, heat gun, soldering iron, multimeter, wrenches, and marine electronic testing equipment.
- Experience installing, servicing, and troubleshooting marine electrical and electronic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Ability to develop creative solutions for challenging electrical and electronic installations.
- Ability to prepare material lists, plan projects, and complete work orders accurately and efficiently.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team while maintaining Hinckley’s standards for quality and craftsmanship.

Requirements
- Experience: Minimum one (1) year of basic electrical experience, plus two (2) years of marine electronics installation and service experience.
- Education: Vocational technical school degree/certification, Boatbuilding, Military Trade, High School Diploma, or General Equivalency Degree (GED).
- Certifications: ABYC certification preferred. Must hold a valid driver’s license.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in confined spaces.
