Description

Now Brewing – Public Policy & Government Affairs Leaders! #tobeapartner

At Starbucks, we’re committed to being a different kind of company—one that not only celebrates coffee and connection, but also thoughtfully engages in the policy issues that shape our business and the communities we serve.

As manager, stakeholder engagement, you will manage key workstreams that support Starbucks government affairs engagement with policymakers, public officials and community stakeholders. You will bring public policy and government affairs acumen to drive project tracking, legislative reporting, leadership materials, events, and stakeholder experiences. You will keep priority initiatives organized, on track, and aligned with business and policy priorities. This role is ideal for someone who can manage complex details and work across teams to help Starbucks show up as a trusted and constructive voice in external engagement.

As a stakeholder engagement manager, you will…

  • Manage coordination for priority stakeholder engagement initiatives across federal, state, and local levels, ensuring workstreams are organized, visible, and moving against key milestones.
  • Drive coordination across internal government affairs partners, cross-functional teams, and external partners.
  • Manage legislative reporting for priority issues by monitoring activity, maintaining updates, and translating developments into clear summaries for various audiences.
  • Draft and coordinate briefings, background materials, talking points, and meeting preparation materials.
  • Translate complex policy and stakeholder engagement activity into clear, concise, decision-ready summaries.
  • Plan and execute events, sponsorships, and external engagement opportunities, including logistics, timelines, vendors, materials, participation tracking, follow-up, and outcome reporting.
  • Establish repeatable processes, templates, and tools; identify risks, gaps, and dependencies; and proactively escalate issues or recommendations to keep workstreams on track.

We’d love to hear from people with:

  • Three or more years of experience in government affairs, external affairs, project management, communications, events, or related roles.
  • Experience managing projects with multiple internal and external stakeholders, including developing timelines, trackers, reporting tools, documentation, and leadership updates.
  • Experience planning or managing events, sponsorships, stakeholder briefings, or external engagement opportunities, including logistics, materials, follow-up, and outcome tracking.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with experience drafting external-facing materials and briefings.
  • Ability to work well independently and with others.
  • Self-starter with excellent judgment and high integrity.
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred in political science, public policy, communications, business, or a related field.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
