POSITION SUMMARY

Develops construction designs and cost estimates for the installation of electrical and fiber facilities using accepted engineering practices in accordance with RUS and NESC standards. Works collaboratively with members, public officials, contractors, line crews, and customer service personnel to ensure efficient, cost-effective project design, construction, and workflow.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Engineering & Design: Develops construction designs and plans, creates assembly drawings and construction units, determines facility layouts and construction options.
  2. Cost Estimating & Materials: Calculates construction costs and retirement costs, produces material lists, cost estimates and develops costs for new construction assemblies.
  3. Electric & Fiber Infrastructure: Stakes electric facilities, stakes fiber-optic facilities and develops procedures and tools for fiber construction.
  4. Permitting & Easements: Obtains necessary easements and permits, coordinates with permitting agencies, works with property owners and developers on facility placement.
  5. Construction Coordination: Works with contractors, SLVREC personnel, developers, property owners, and other departments, provides construction options and coordinates how projects will be completed.
  6. Standards, Policies & Planning: Helps develop construction policies and procedures, contributes to budgets, work plans, engineering/construction studies and develops new construction standards/assemblies as needed.
  7. Technical Software & Documentation: Uses NISC Enterprise Software to create staking sheets, material lists and cost estimates and produces technical drawings and documentation needed for construction.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  1. A Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent technical education and experience required.
  2. Complete company provided staking technician certification (3 week program) within first year of employment.
  3. Strong analytical and written/verbal communication skills.
  4. Ability to operate computers, communication equipment, standard office equipment, and software, including Windows, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  5. Possess or be able to obtain a valid Colorado Driver’s License.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  1. Duties are performed inside and outside in difficult terrain.
  2. Irregular hours included nights, weekends, and holidays may be required.
  3. Must be able to perform duties as stated above.
  4. Activities are performed driving, sitting, lifting, standing and walking.
