This role is designed for an experienced private funds tax professional who can independently manage a portfolio of entities across multiple fund platforms, service providers, reporting requirements, and compliance deadlines.
The Senior Tax Manager will oversee the full annual tax compliance lifecycle for assigned entities, partnering closely with external tax advisors, internal finance and operations teams, and other stakeholders to ensure timely, accurate, and consistent tax reporting. - Coordinate with external tax service providers to monitor deliverables, resolve technical issues, and ensure complete and accurate filings.
- Review tax allocations, tax capital reporting, investor reporting packages, and supporting documentation for consistency and accuracy.
- Oversee client-filed returns, payment processing, signature-page coordination, and post-filing documentation.
- Identify discrepancies between tax returns, supporting workpapers, trackers, and investor reporting, and recommend appropriate resolutions.
- Apply consistent tax reporting positions, controls, and documentation standards across multiple fund platforms.
- Maintain entity inventories, compliance calendars, dependency trackers, filing dashboards, and review checklists to improve operational efficiency.
- Partner with internal Finance, Operations, Legal, and other business teams to support tax reporting and respond to information requests.
- Stay current on partnership tax regulations and industry developments impacting private investment funds and alternative investments.
- Understand the company’s internal processes and technology to suggest and implement process improvements and gain efficiencies.
Job requirements include:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; CPA strongly preferred.
- Approximately 10–14 years of progressive tax experience with significant partnership tax compliance and review responsibilities.
- Extensive experience with private equity, alternative investments, fund-of-funds, feeder fund structures, or asset management organizations.
- Strong knowledge of partnership taxation, tiered partnership structures, allocations, tax capital, and investor reporting.
- Experience reviewing outsourced tax compliance work prepared by external accounting firms.
- Familiarity with Schedule K-1, K-2/K-3 reporting, state partnership filings, withholding, and composite returns.
- Exposure to international tax reporting, including Forms 8858, 8865, and 8621, is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple entities, competing priorities, and overlapping deadlines with exceptional attention to detail.
- Advanced Excel skills with strong analytical, organizational, project management, and communication abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively across internal teams and external service providers while exercising sound professional judgment.
Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization (e.g., H-1B , O-1, F-1 (OPT), TN, or any other non-immigrant visa classifications that require employer support or sponsorship).
