Job Description Summary
At GE Vernova, we are advancing Direct Air Capture (DAC) by building the end-to-end global supply base, manufacturing footprint, and industrialization architecture needed to transition breakthrough hardware from early-stage concept into high-volume, commercial-scale deployment. As the Supply Chain Strategy & Industrialization Leader – Direct Air Capture, you will own the overarching supply chain strategy and manufacturing industrialization for a critical portfolio of complex engineered hardware encompassing air contactors, vacuum vessels, heat exchangers, piping, specialized coatings, inlets, valves, pumps, auxiliary modules, and electrical equipment.
Working inside a vertically integrated cross-functional team, you will serve as the chief manufacturing authority bridging Engineering, Sourcing, Project Management, Quality, and Suppliers. You will establish leading indicators to monitor supply chain progress, lead Design for Manufacturability (DFM) initiatives and drive the strategic supply chain as volume scales—ensuring total cost control, supply resilience, and manufacturing IP development and retention.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Supply Chain Strategy & Architecture
- Design and execute a resilient, scalable, global supply chain strategy for complex DAC hardware, balancing quality, lead time, and cost.
- Lead early-stage supplier selection, capacity modeling, and strategic partnership agreements for critical components.
- Drive aggressive Design-to-Cost (DTC) targets in direct collaboration with Engineering and Commercial teams.
- Lead value analysis and should-cost modeling efforts to identify aggressive cost-out opportunities.
- Develop sourcing and industrialization plans that support projected business growth of 200–500% over the next 2–5 years, including strategic dual-sourcing strategies for critical path components.
- Evaluate make/buy manufacturing trade-offs, determining optimal strategies for building core process capability in-house vs. leveraging external industrialization partners.
- Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) sourcing and manufacturing readiness across early-stage development and full-scale product industrialization.
- Define key performance metrics (OTD, COPQ, Lead Time, Supplier Rate Capability) and report status directly to Executive Leadership.
Lean & Advanced Manufacturing
- Identify, pilot, and deploy advanced manufacturing technologies to continuously drive step-change improvements in quality, cost, and delivery.
- Embed the Lean manufacturing toolkit into business operating method—including Value Stream Mapping (VSM), PFMEA, Standard Work, Error-Proofing (Poka-Yoke), and 8D root cause problem solving.
Supplier Strategy and Industrialization
- Serve as the primary technical bridge between Engineering and the supply base, driving Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Supplier Quality Assurance from concept through production validation.
- Rapidly resolve technical, quality, and lead time bottlenecks at supplier facilities to protect hardware delivery schedules.
- Identify, audit, qualify, and industrialize suppliers capable of producing highly technical, heavy-duty industrial hardware, fabricated assemblies, and specialized coating processes.
- Partner with sourcing to drive commercial frameworks, master service agreements, pricing structures, and terms & conditions with key global suppliers.
Organizational Growth
- Define the long-term DAC Supply Chain team organizational structure through competency requirements, resource modeling, and hiring roadmaps.
- Mentor and develop internal talent pipeline by defining standard work, onboarding programs, and technical development paths to build a fast-moving, high-execution team culture.
- Promote a One Team culture by building strong partnerships across Sales, Supply Chain, Sourcing, Quality, Engineering, Industrialization, Finance, and regional leadership teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, or related field) or Business/Supply Chain Management from an accredited university.
- Minimum of 7–10+ years of progressive experience in Supply Chain, Advanced Manufacturing, or Quality within high-tech, aerospace, energy, or heavy industrial sectors.
- Strong proficiency in should-cost analysis, BOM cost modeling, value engineering, and driving structured cost-out initiatives.
- Proven track record of industrializing complex hardware, launching new supplier lines, or executing strategic commodity sourcing for NPI programs.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex cross-functional programs with a trajectory toward organizational scaling.
Desired Characteristics
- Ability to challenge traditional supply chain boundaries, break down complex hardware assemblies, and build innovative, cost-effective manufacturing strategies.
- Startup Mindset which thrives in ambiguous, high-velocity environments to build scalable supply chain infrastructure from the ground up
- Demonstrated ability to balance short-term execution with long-term business strategy while driving sustainable growth.
- Experience integrating digital technologies into daily operations to improve business performance.
- Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, quality management systems (SQDC), and cost-driver physics.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and executive presentation skills; adept at synthesizing technical and commercial trade-offs into concise, data-driven briefings for leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional engineering and sourcing teams, with a clear trajectory toward formal direct-report team management.
