Stormwater Engineer/Scientist
Location: Daly City, CA (additional locations available)
Type: Full-time
Salary: $85,000-$134,000 per year, plus annual performance bonus
The Opportunity
An employee-owned environmental engineering and sciences consulting firm is seeking a Stormwater Engineer/Scientist to support stormwater compliance and management design projects for industrial, commercial, and municipal clients. You'll report to the Team Leader and be ready to take on project management responsibilities early.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Analysis and Design
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses of stormwater runoff
- Design stormwater best management practices (BMPs)
- Conduct pollutant source assessments
- Collect samples and evaluate stormwater quality data
Reporting and Documentation
- Prepare technical memoranda, Exceedance Response Action (ERA) reports, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs), and electronic deliverables
- Review and analyze data throughout the project cycle
Compliance and Client Support
- Inspect commercial, industrial, and construction sites for permit conformance
- Train client staff on permit requirements, sampling, and BMP implementation
- Assist with permit applications and coordinate with permitting agencies
- Work closely with internal and external project teams
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geology, or Environmental Science
- 3+ years as an engineer or scientist in environmental consulting, with industrial stormwater experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and work ethic
- Ability to multitask, stay organized, and work independently or in teams
- Valid driver's license
Preferred
- Master's degree
- Professional Engineer (PE) license, Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification, or Professional Geologist (PG) license
- Qualified Industrial Stormwater Practitioner (QISP) certification, or interest in earning it
- Experience with AutoCAD, Autodesk Civil 3D, or ArcGIS Pro
- OSHA HAZWOPER training
Work Conditions
- Fast-paced environment with frequent short deadlines and 10-hour days
- Medical clearance required for hazardous waste sites
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and remain standing or seated for long periods
- Occasional travel, including overnight, for client meetings and site visits (up to 20%)
