JOB SUMMARY: The Texas Rangers are seeking a highly motivated and collaborative Complex Athletic Trainer based in Surprise, Arizona. This position will serve as a resource providing athletic training and rehabilitation coverage across the complex. This role will also be overseeing the athletic training internship program. The ideal candidate will have a background in sports medicine and have a strong knowledge of athletic training and orthopedic rehabilitation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
- Provide athletic training and rehabilitation coverage for Arizona Complex League rehab, spring training and camps.
- Assist with game, practice, camp, and/or workout coverage as needed, including pre/post treatments and field setup.
- Assist with post-injury care, including treatment, rehabilitation programming, appointment coordination, and communication with Athletic Trainers, Physical Therapists, physicians, and outside providers ensuring continuity with care provided.
- Coordinate and manage medical and rehabilitation travel logistics for physician appointments and specialty care, including scheduling, transportation, lodging, itineraries, and communication with players, medical staff, physicians, and organizational personnel.
- Serve as a floating, complex-wide athletic training resource to help maintain consistency in medical care, rehabilitation practices, and training room operations.
- Collaborate with Athletic Trainers, Team Physicians, Physical Therapists, Strength & Conditioning Coaches, Sport Scientists, and other members of the Player Health and Performance staff to provide comprehensive player care.
- Maintain thorough and timely documentation of injuries, treatments, rehabilitation sessions, physician appointments, and other required medical records.
- Oversee the organization's athletic training internship program, including intern schedules, clinical experiences, mentorship, education, and professional development.
- Assist with oversight, organization, and general upkeep of medical and rehabilitation spaces throughout the complex.
- Maintain and monitor medical equipment and training room operations, including ice machines, hot/cold tubs, modalities, Gator/equipment, inventory, and other medical equipment.
- Assist with calibration and maintenance of therapeutic modalities and medical equipment.
- Maintain upkeep of the training room environment while helping ensure consistent operational standards.
- Support implementation and maintenance of EMR processes, medical trackers, documentation workflows, and other medical technology initiatives.
- Assist with special projects and organizational initiatives within the Player Health and Performance department.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, communication, organization, and clinical judgment in high-stress situations.
- Other duties as assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training or related field required.
- Current athletic training certification and Arizona licensure or eligibility for licensure required.
- Experience working with athletes in a sports medicine, collegiate, professional, or high-performance environment required.
- Strong knowledge of athletic training, orthopedic rehabilitation, and sports medicine principles required.
- Experience providing rehabilitation and injury management services in a professional baseball or sports environment preferred.
- Experience overseeing, mentoring, or coordinating athletic training students or interns preferred.
- Strong organizational and logistical skills, including experience coordinating medical appointments and travel preferred.
- Experience utilizing electronic medical records, medical trackers, and other healthcare technology preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing organizational needs.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lb.
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays during the baseball season required.
- Ability and willingness to travel as needed.
