The Department of Mathematics & Statistics in the College of Science seeks a dynamic colleague committed to fostering teaching excellence and student development in a program that values creativity, collaboration, learner-centered pedagogy, and a sense of belonging. The new faculty member will join a collaborative group of 26 mathematics, statistics, and data science faculty who serve the entire university community. The department currently offers degrees in BS Mathematics, MS in Mathematics, and MS in Statistics.
We seek applications for a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track Instructor position to begin Spring 2027. Although this is a non-tenure track position, progression in rank from Instructor to Senior Instructor position is possible.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate mathematics and/or statistics courses, including developmental math courses.
- Contribute to ongoing course development and coordination of developmental mathematics courses and Summer Bridge Program.
- Play a leadership role in common assessment and continuous improvement efforts of lower-level undergraduate mathematics and statistics courses.
- Participate in departmental and university service appropriate to a teaching-focused appointment.
- Support student learning and development through effective teaching, mentoring, and engagement with the various student bodies.
Workload: The standard teaching load is 15 credit hours per semester (typically five 3-credit courses), for a total of 30 credit hours over the 9-month academic year, plus related service activities. This is a teaching-focused appointment; research is not required.

Required Qualifications:
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Mathematics or Statistics.

- Experience working with different student populations at the college level.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Experience with Summer Bridge Program

- Demonstrated excellence in teaching undergraduate mathematics and statistics courses, or the potential for effective teaching of such courses.
- Demonstrate a commitment to and preparation for excellence in teaching lower-level undergraduate mathematics courses.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in supporting students’ learning experiences across different sections of the same course.
- One or more years of teaching Developmental Math courses
