OVERVIEW

The Structured Desk Support Associate plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive desk support services for Global Structured Products trading desks, focusing on both pre and post-execution events. This position involves ensuring that downstream feeds for various products, including Structured Notes, Equities, OTC Equity and Interest Rate Derivatives, Bonds, and Loans, are accurately set up while acting as a liaison between the trading desk and other stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in financial services, with a strong understanding of derivative products and trading platforms. They will demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure, collaborating with various teams to ensure operational efficiency and adherence to regulatory requirements.

Location: NYC, 2 days onsite - Times Square Office

Contract Length: 6+ months, with potential for extension or FTE conversion

Rate: $60/hour

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure that all new trade bookings and amendments are accurately reflected on trading platforms and updated to reflect lifecycle events such as expiry, reset, and corporate actions.
  • Take on a leadership role by liaising with the trading desk and bank stakeholders, including Accounting, P&L, Market Risk, and Audit, to ensure accurate setup of new products and downstream flows.
  • Act as a first line of defense to ensure appropriate controls are in place to reduce operational risk and corroborate adherence to the Approved Product List.
  • Collaborate with IT and Product Development teams to automate transaction workflows and create robust trade booking and activity monitoring tools.
  • Participate in system migration and enhancement projects, conducting user acceptance testing (UAT) and assessing the impact of trade bookings on market risk and P&L.
  • Proactively investigate and resolve position, trade, and payment discrepancies.
  • Complete end-of-day processes, including completeness and reconciliation checks.
  • Ensure all procedure documents are current and accurately reflect operational processes.
  • Identify potential risk situations within Global Trade Support activities and escalate to management as necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to internal processes and approvals to mitigate risk to the organization.
  • Contribute to the testing and updating of contingency planning to support business continuity during critical events.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the operational effectiveness of assigned Global Trade Support activities.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service that builds trust through responsive and knowledgeable support.
  • Align individual performance goals with team objectives and demonstrate behaviors consistent with organizational values.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1-3 years of business-related experience in the financial services industry.
  • A university degree or college diploma in a related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of Vanilla and Exotic derivative products, including Structured Notes, Equities, OTC Equity and Interest Rate Derivatives, Swaps, Forwards, Loans, and Bonds.
  • Experience with project management and testing, particularly in onboarding trading platforms.
  • Familiarity with tools such as TraderEH, SwapOne, Imagine, Calypso, and Bloomberg.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated investigation and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Good organizational skills and adaptability to a changing business environment.
  • Understanding of business unit risk and regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of departmental systems and applications supporting a range of financial products.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Proficiency in trading platforms and tools such as TraderEH, SwapOne, Imagine, Calypso, and Bloomberg.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.

PREFERRED

  • Experience in a fast-paced trading environment.
  • Familiarity with regulatory oversight bodies and compliance requirements in financial markets.
