Montgomery College has an immediate need for Building Service Supervisor on the Germantown campus. This is a third shift supervisor position from 10:00pm – 6:30am Monday through Friday. This is a non-bargaining, Exempt, grade 23 position. Montgomery College promotes and creates a working and learning environment rooted in the basic tenets of fairness, diversity, and inclusiveness.
This position has been designated as 'essential personnel.' Essential personnel are defined as those required to ensure that campus buildings and grounds remain operational and secure, as well as those responsible for monitoring and communicating the College’s operational status. In the event that College operations are suspended, employees in essential roles may be required to report to work at their normal scheduled time or to report to an alternative work location as directed
Duties include but are not limited to:
Essential Functions
- Perform various supervisory functions for assigned staff such as assigning specific duties to staff, establishing priorities/deadlines and monitoring and evaluating work performance.
- Conduct performance evaluations and recommend commendation, formal and informal coaching, and disciplinary action.
- Evaluate the training needs of staff and coordinate/conduct in-house training.
- Review and approve timesheets; make corrections as needed.
- Schedule, assign, inspect, and review work of assigned staff to ensure work is performed according to established standards.
- Provide oversight for contractors (obtain/review bids, supervise and guide work, complete purchase orders, inspect, and sign off completed jobs).
- Assist in implementing systematic team cleaning and GS 42.
- Maintain chemical safety data sheets (SDS) documentation.
- Record, Inspect and Operate College vehicles, various tools and types of equipment.
- Create, track, and complete work orders using work order database.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or G.E.D and any combination of education, training, and experience providing understanding of the trade and the ability to perform the duties of the job.
- Six years of progressively responsible experience performing and leading others in building custodial work.
- The equivalent combination of education, training, certification and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and expertise to perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
Hiring Range: $55,830 - $72,567 hourly. Initial salary placement for new hires falls between the minimum and midpoint of the range and is based on relevant candidate experience and internal equity. The maximum salary for this position is $89,304.
For degrees earned outside of the U.S., a copy of your education equivalency, conducted by a nationally recognized evaluation service, must be included in your application.
