Job Description:

Overview:

The Merchandise Assistant, Home is responsible for supporting all sourcing and buying activities for category within the Home Department across all our major international brands. The role will be responsible for coordinating the administrative workflow from placement to shipment and assistance in sourcing new vendors, visiting new and existing manufacturers/factories when required. He/she will assist in market research and coordinate visits at trade fairs, vendor visits and exhibitions. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with less than 2 years’ experience eager to grow fast and looking for an organization that provides a clear career path.

Job Responsibilities:

• Support all of the sourcing and buying activities of assigned category, work with sourcing specialist, manager and all partners to execute.

• Support workflow and coordinate vendor site visits for assigned category. 

• Assist to strategically source and follow program guidelines to meet established goals for assigned category. 

• Order follow up and all administrative tasks from placement to shipment. 

• Assist in market research and coordinate all merchant visits at trade fairs, vendor visits and exhibitions for market sector. Prepare and follow up after each visit and show. Understand and articulate the business. 

• Assist to source new vendors as needed, research and visit new and existing manufacturers, factories required.

• Involve in evaluating each source with the intent of building a long-term business relationship, while guiding them to meet the TJX fashion, quality and value requirements. 

• Work closely with team, vendors and global partners on buying calendars, merchandise categories, and production schedules. Negotiate appropriately. 

• Ensure inspection programs and all company compliance guidelines are followed with regard to sourcing

Job Requirements:

• University graduate; fresh graduates are welcome  

• Fluent/Native English skills able to converse, write and comprehend English and strong Mandarin Chinese; other language or Chinese dialects a plus. 

• Understanding of sourcing for home categories in U.S., Canada, or UK retail market; understanding of manufacturing principles with some familiarity in materials, production process or U.S. customs and International logistics and trade.

• Must uphold the highest level integrity; reference checks will be conducted.

• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability build both internal and external relationships

• Able to work independently, problem solve, recommend and implement solutions

• Passionate in products and knowledgeable in latest market trends

• Strong business acumen and entrepreneurial
