you will apply your proven experience and familiarity with domain data processes
To support the Technology Digital Delivery Production and Operations business.
Part of bp’s Production & Operations business, Solutions and Projects has hubs
in London, Pune, and Houston. The team provides daily operational data
Management, data engineering and analytics support to this organization across a broad range of fields.
About the role
The Data Stewart provides support to engineering and operations teams by
ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and usability of process and equipment data.
They work with time‑series data, simulation outputs, and engineering models to
help maintains the consistency and traceability of technical datasets. They
collaborate closely with discipline engineers e.g. process engineers, data
engineers, and system specialists to investigate data issues, improve data flows,
and ensure that engineering queries are translated into significant data insights
or corrective actions.
What you will deliver
• Work closely with engineering, modelling, and sensor-based datasets to
ensure data accuracy, consistency, and relevance to physical systems.
• Identify, analyse, and resolve data quality issues, including mapping,
lineage breaks, transformation errors, or incorrect source data.
• Collaborate with process engineers to understand technical queries and
trace them through data models, simulations, or pipeline transformations.
Support the development and improvement of data flows used for
engineering calculations, HYSYS simulations, CAD outputs, or time‑series
analytics.
• Document data structures, assumptions, and lineage to support
operational traceability and adaptability.
• Assist in fixing user issues resulting from engineering changes,
model updates, or modifications to calculations and logic.
What you will need to be successful (experience and qualifications)
Essential:
• Bachelor’s degree in Process Engineering or equivalent oil & gas industry
experience.
• 2+ years of experience working in Oil & Gas.
• Good proven understanding of SQL, Python, or Excel-based
engineering/data models.
• Experience with at least one of the following: HYSYS modelling, or CAD
tools used for P&ID or PFD creation.
• Understanding of time‑series data from sensors, simulations, or
calculations.
• Ability to work with engineers and technical teams to investigate and
resolve data quality, mapping, or transformation issues.
• Ability to translate engineering questions into data or system issues.
• Strong communication, documentation, and problem‑solving skills.
• Analytical mindset passionate about data accuracy, traceability, and process
improvement.
Desired :
Exposure to major data platforms, especially related to lineage, object
models, or engineering relationship structures.

• Experience troubleshooting data flows or pipeline issues arising from
engineering source changes or user error.
• Experience tracing data across transformations, engineering data flows, or
chained modelling steps.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, or tools such as AVEVA PI AF used to enrich
industrial datasets.
• Some experience and understanding of process and information drawings.
