The Product Manager for Insurance Platforms leads the product strategy, roadmap, and lifecycle for insurance applications serving internal and external users.
This role translates business needs into prioritized, approved initiatives with clear value, scope, and outcomes, ensuring teams remain focused on the highest-value work. While primarily focused on future roadmap and pipeline (≈80%), this role actively supports in-flight delivery by clarifying requirements, adjusting scope, and ensuring stakeholder alignment and communication.
Key Accountabilities/Deliverables:
Build deep partnerships with business leaders to identify pain points, opportunities, and measurable outcomes
Maintain an 18-month roadmap and a 6+ month ready backlog aligned to business priorities and capacity
Lead end-to-end business case development, ensuring clear value (ROI), defined scope, and approved prioritization
Balance feature delivery with technical investment (reliability, scalability, modernization)
Own requirements clarity, backlog prioritization, and stakeholder alignment across all initiatives
Provide clear, consistent progress and roadmap reporting, enabling informed stakeholder decisions
Define and track success metrics for delivered outcomes
Drive prioritization trade-offs based on value, risk, and capacity
Enforce intake, prioritization, and funding governance processes to ensure alignment to portfolio priorities
Technical Knowledge and Understanding:
Strong written communication skills for technical and executive audiences (C-suite)
Practical experience with Agile delivery (Scrum, Kanban)
Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams
Demonstrated habit of continuously teaching themselves new skills, with clear examples of recently applied learning
Working knowledge of the Duck Creek platform preferred
Familiarity with workflow automation tools (e.g., Power Automate) preferred
Experience:
5+ years of experience in the insurance industry
3+ years of experience in product management within Agile environments
3+ years of experience driving insurance platform development
Experience with Atlassian Suite (Jira, Confluence)
Experience using AI-enabled tools (e.g., Copilot) to improve productivity
B2B product experience preferred
Experience in insurance operations (underwriting, claims, billing, or sales) for a carrier or agent preferred.
