Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for business development efforts in the Huntsville and North Alabama market
- Lead strategic growth initiatives focused on roadway, transportation, and public infrastructure projects
- Identify, pursue, and secure new project opportunities through existing and new client relationships
- Develop and maintain strong connections with local municipalities, Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT), contractors, and industry partners
- Track upcoming projects, RFQs/RFPs, and market trends to position the firm competitively
- Lead go/no-go decisions, proposal strategy, and interview preparation
- Collaborate with technical teams to develop scopes of work, staffing plans, and fee proposals
- Support project kickoff and transition to delivery teams, ensuring alignment with client expectations
- Maintain and grow key client relationships through regular communication and engagement
- Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and local networking functions
- Partner with internal leadership to align business development goals with company strategy
- Assist in hiring and building a local team to support growth in the Huntsville region
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in civil engineering, with a strong emphasis on transportation/roadway infrastructure
- Proven track record in business development, client relationship management, and project capture
- Established network of contacts in the Huntsville/North Alabama engineering and infrastructure market
- Strong understanding of public-sector procurement processes, including RFQs/RFPs
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Ability to identify opportunities and convert leads into awarded projects
- Self-motivated, strategic thinker with strong organizational and leadership abilities
- Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Ability to travel locally for client meetings, site visits, and industry events
