Job Description Summary

As a Technical Leader for Accessories within the CM&U ITR Design Engineering organization, you will serve as the technical authority for auxiliary and mechanical systems across the Heavy Duty Gas Turbine Portfolio. You will lead design, optimization, and integration from concept through operation, driving high-quality engineering outcomes, improving First time quality (FTQ), reducing rework and field issues. This role requires a self-driven leader who thrives on complexity, takes full ownership of engineering challenges, and proactively drives improvements in product design, process and team capability.

Impact and Scope

  • Strategic Influence: You will shape the technical direction of the Heavy Duty  Services ITR Accessory organization, significantly influencing project priorities and team effectiveness.
  • Operational Autonomy: As a key technical lead, you will exercise high-level judgment to navigate complex, cross-functional problems and make critical decisions independently.
  • Process Excellence:
    • Drive root cause analysis and implement sustainable corrective and preventive action
    • Lead continuous improvement (Kaizen) initiatives to eliminate process inefficiencies

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Design Ownership: Lead the design and  provide engineering solutions on services accessories Fluid and Mechanical systems such as Fuel Gas, Liquid Fuel, Purge, AA, Water injection, Inlet & Exhaust system etc. Perform / review engineering calculations and analyses to size components including valves, pumps, blowers, compressors etc.
  • Proactive Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks during ITO or OTR phase of project by reviewing project specials and first of its kind or NPI scope
  • Strategic Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less-experienced colleagues, identify team skill gaps And support capability building and succession planning.
  • Innovation & Standards: Lead the innovation of products and processes; take a fresh perspective on existing solutions to update or create new Design Practices and Work Instructions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Work closely with cross functional CTH community & leverage/share lessons learnt for benefit of all global accessories’ communities.
  • Work with cross-functional teams (such as sourcing & product services) to improve or resolve supplier/site issues & help reduce CoQ incursion during installation/commissioning.
  • Technical Rigor: Ensure high-quality standards through the review and approval of design studies, also ensure robust design validation through analysis (Pipe stress, flow, and structural analysis).
  • Safety Stewardship: Actively participate in the triage of safety cases and identify opportunities to proactively ensure product and operational safety.

Required Qualifications

  • B.E/B.Tech/ BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Aeronautical, Aerospace, Aero/Gas dynamics).
  • At least 10+ additional years of experience in an engineering capacity.
  • Deep domain expertise in accessories system design with special focus on brownfield upgrades projects.
  • Highly skilled in Problem solving, Issue Resolution and support IC’s and coach toward high technical quality.
  • Highly skilled in collaborating with the ITO team to package optimal and right solutions to customer.
  • Proven ability to develop and mentor others.
