Job Description:
Biomed Equipment Tech IUnder relatively close supervision, repairs, calibrates and maintains basic clinical equipment technologies, devices, instruments and systems. Inspects, installs and provides preventive maintenance of general clinical equipment.SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Possesses basic understanding and skills related to general electromechanical systems and devices.
- Maintains regular, consistent and punctual attendance at the assigned job location
- Ability to utilize general applications such as e-mail, spreadsheet and word processing software
- Ability to comprehend instructions and effectively communicate
- Ability to work safely with hand tools and specialized test equipment.
- Ability to learn from others on the job and can teach basic skills to new hires or interns.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/DEGREES
- Academic work or military training with emphasis in the following disciplines: mathematics, anatomy, physiology, biology, physics, chemistry, electronic theory, medical terminology, English, computer and networking peripherals, and professional skills.
- Associate’s degree preferred
- CABT or CBET certification preferred
EXPERIENCE
- Six months experience working in a inpatient hospital or health care facility preferred.

Physical/Mental/Environmental Requirements
- Able to stand, climb, stoop, bend frequently; positions require considerable physical activity.
- May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Requires ability to tolerate exposure to conditions which may include toxic chemicals, bio-hazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, heights, high temperatures or confined spaces.
- Able to use proper body mechanics to lift supplies and equipment and push carts and dollies weighing up to 500 lbs.
- Needs adequate color vision. Must wear protective clothing as required.
- Must have sensory ability to distinguish hot, cold, range of temperatures, surfaces, fine motor skills, manual dexterity, and detect/distinguish odors.
- May be required to travel to various locations.
- Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone
