Overview

AtkinsRéalis is looking for a Planning & Scheduling Manager, in Riyadh, KSA.

The Planning & Scheduling Manager will be responsible for leading all planning, scheduling, progress monitoring, and reporting activities across major roads, highways, bridges, interchanges, and transportation infrastructure projects within a Project Management Consultancy (PMC) environment.

The role will ensure effective development and management of integrated project schedules, monitor project performance, identify schedule risks and recovery opportunities, and provide strategic planning support to project and client leadership teams. The Planning & Scheduling Manager will play a key role in driving schedule certainty and supporting successful project delivery within approved timelines.

Your role

Planning & Scheduling

  • Lead the development, maintenance, and management of master program schedules for large-scale infrastructure projects.

  • Establish planning procedures, scheduling standards, and project controls processes in line with client and PMC requirements.

  • Develop and review baseline schedules for design, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning phases.

  • Ensure project schedules are fully integrated across all disciplines and stakeholders.

  • Validate contractor schedules and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.

  • Monitor schedule performance and baseline adherence throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Develop and maintain work breakdown structures (WBS), project coding structures, and scheduling methodologies.

Schedule Control & Performance Monitoring

  • Analyze project progress and identify critical path activities.

  • Monitor schedule variances and recommend corrective actions.

  • Assess project performance using key performance indicators (KPIs).

  • Lead recovery planning workshops and develop mitigation plans for schedule delays.

  • Evaluate contractor recovery schedules and acceleration proposals.

  • Ensure schedule updates are accurate, timely, and aligned with site progress.

  • Collaborate with cost control, risk management, engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure schedule alignment.Support forecasting and project performance reporting.

  • Integrate planning activities with project controls processes and reporting requirements.

  • Participate in change management assessments and evaluate schedule impacts arising from design changes, variations, and claims.

Schedule Risk Analysis

  • Lead Schedule Risk Analysis (SRA) activities for major infrastructure projects.

  • Conduct critical path assessments and schedule health checks.

  • Perform quantitative schedule analyses using Monte Carlo simulations.

  • Develop schedule confidence assessments (P50, P80, P90).

  • Identify schedule risk drivers and recommend mitigation measures.

  • Support contingency planning and informed decision-making through risk-based scheduling.

Reporting & Stakeholder Management

  • Prepare executive dashboards, look-ahead programs, schedule analysis reports, and progress presentations.

  • Present project schedule status and key risks to senior management and client representatives.

  • Facilitate planning meetings, progress review sessions, and schedule coordination workshops.

  • Interface with clients, contractors, consultants, and regulatory authorities regarding schedule performance and delivery strategies.

  • Provide strategic planning advice to Project Directors and Program Directors.

About you

  • Minimum 20 years of experience in planning and scheduling for major infrastructure projects.

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in a Planning Manager or Scheduling Manager capacity.

  • Proven experience working within a PMC, engineering consultancy, or major infrastructure organization.

  • Demonstrated experience on large-scale roads, highways, bridges, interchanges, tunnels, and transportation infrastructure projects.

  • Experience working with government authorities and major transportation agencies in the Middle East is highly desirable.

  • Strong understanding of project lifecycle planning from concept design through construction and handover.

  • Advanced proficiency in: Primavera P6, Primavera Risk Analysis, Microsoft Project, Power BI, Advanced Microsoft Excel
