Overview
Lead the integrated Corporate Affairs and Public Policy and Government Affairs (PPGA) advocacy agenda for PepsiCo in Pakistan across all areas; own and drive the defense of the business with government stakeholders especially in the areas of licenses, agronomy, taxation, health/wellness, advocacy & portfolio transformation
Responsibilities
- Create and implement new government advocacy platforms, campaigns and solutions as government legislation proposals enter previously ‘unchartered territory’ in Pakistan
- Lead all government-related activities covering permits/licenses/approvals for the facility operations in Pakistan, across an increasing number of manufacturing facilities
- Lead, counsel and coach business leaders and team members on all government advocacy in defense of PepsiCo products and businesses
- Sponsor, identify and oversee external and executive communications initiatives and opportunities that drive positive perception of PepsiCo’s people, products, activities and corporate reputation in Pakistan
- Lead Corporate Media Relations strategy and serve as the Pakistan’s senior-most media spokesperson
- Lead Brand Media Relations, Brand PR and Social Media led communications where applicable for Pakistan
- Lead, counsel and coach business leaders for interactions with media and other external stakeholders
- Sponsor and oversee PwP/CSR activities in Pakistan – including NGO partnerships, private-public partnerships and internal employee volunteering initiatives -- that enhance external reputation and advance internal employee engagement
- Oversee Pakistan Internal Communications agenda in support of Pakistan’s strategic priorities and OHS and Reward and Recognition objectives
- As a member of the Pakistan Po1 Executive Committee, drive functional perspectives and partnerships with other business and functional leaders: be a strategic advisor to CU’s VP & GM, Pakistan Po1 CU, and Ex-Com peers
- Own the seamless combination, integration and functional stewardship for the two separate functions of Corporate Communications and PPGA
- Develop and lead a highly motivated team across these two integrated functions, in line with PepsiCo Career Development objectives and framework and PepsiCo Values
- Provide and facilitate coaching, mentoring and professional development opportunities for direct and dotted line reports including other associates in line with Career Development plans
Qualifications
- Mastery of all principles, execution, and advanced technical specialized expertise in all Corporate Communications and Public Policy/Government Affairs disciplines
- 15+ years of progressive experience with proven leadership track record in broad-based Corporate Communications and Public Affairs at senior level
- Proven track record for developing effective stakeholder relations strategies aligned with organizational goals and business outcomes
- Demonstrated experience working with CEOs, GMs, and other senior leaders in FMCG multi-brand environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills essential, including writing experience across varied media and communications channels (speeches, news releases, internal business leaders’ communications etc.)
- Previous experience in Journalism, Government, or Law considered an advantage
- Strong business acumen and ability to understand businesses at both strategic and tactical level
- Proven ability to quickly understand and address complex issues; to work collaboratively with others across business units, functional departments, geographies and disciplines: to work on multiple tasks: to work with a very high degree of independence
- Proven ability to collaborate with business partners outside the organization (customers, franchise partners etc.)
- Proven strategic planning and project management capabilities
- Strong judge of talent, with an emphasis on hiring/ developing high performance teams
- Fluency in Urdu and English
Education Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, policy/law, communications, or a related field of study essential
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, Policy/Law, or a related field of study, preferred
