Summary
Functions as a member GI team by assisting the physician and team with all procedures, decontaminating all equipment, and preparing procedure rooms for procedures. Understands procedures, positioning of patients, and decontamination standards; works well in a fast paced patient centered environment.

Job Duties

• Assists with GI and pulmonary procedures such as colonoscopies, endoscopies, and bronchospies.
• Completes vital signs on patients and checks for height, weight, head circumference, growth charts, temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, and pain screening.
• Functions as a member of the care delivery team to assist the provider and nurse.
• Identifies actual or potential patient risks and communicates those risks to the licensed nurse or provider.
• Performs clerical and front end functions to support patient care delivery.
• Maintains current knowledge of insurance, managed care plans, and medical authorization requirements.
• Problem solves, troubleshoots, and takes corrective measures in care and handling of equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

• Technical School Diploma licensed practical nurse (LPN) program.
• 3 years Physician office practice setting.
• Ability to accept and adapt to change and recognizes differences among people.
• Demonstrates competency utilizing various technologies, equipment, and supplies to safely provide patient care.
• Demonstrates initiative and ability to function independently as well as collaboratively.
• Demonstrates knowledge and ability to care for patients, utilizing a developmental perspective.
• Excellent computer skills, EMR, word processing and Excel.
• Knowledge of endoscopy equipment and how to perform decontamination procedures.
• Knowledgeable in all aspects of decontamination of GI scopes and equipment.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire and
• LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse_PA - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire

Preferred Qualifications

• Proven proficiency of technology at conclusion of orientation.

Physical Demands
Lift over 50 lbs. Push/pull up to 140 lbs. Carry 80 lbs. short distances. Frequent standing/walking, squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing and reaching overhead.
