Industrial Design Fall Adjunct Faculty Positions:

The School of Architecture and Design (SoAD) is currently seeking part-time adjunct faculty members for the 2026 fall semester to teach in-person courses within its Industrial Design program on campus in Boston.

Courses include foundational and advanced studios (WF, 2-4:45pm and MR, 1:00-3:45pm), 3D Realization (WF, 2-4:45pm), Human Factors in Design (WF, 10-11:15am) as well as visualization/drawing and design history classes.

The fall term classes begin on September 8 and end on December 8th, followed by the review and exam period.

Wentworth’s School of Architecture and Design (SoAD) recognizes the critical role its courses and curriculum play in fostering academic success and addressing equity gaps. We seek new faculty to join a community committed to teaching excellence, curricular innovation, and mentoring of students. SoAD offers highly respected Bachelor of Sciences degrees in Industrial Design (NASAD accredited), Interior Design (CIDA accredited), Architecture, Master of Architecture (NAAB accredited), and Building Sciences. The mission of the SoAD is to empower design students and educators from all backgrounds to become creative, civic-minded problem-solvers, responding to global challenges and contributing to local communities. The SoAD guides students to engage locally and globally, explore advanced technologies, collaborate within and across disciplines, gain industry experience via cooperative education, and learn to design sustainably and equitably. Comprising approximately 940 undergraduate and 100 graduate students, the SoAD has robust international study opportunities at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. 

About the Industrial Design Program:

With approximately 120 students, the Industrial Design program emphasizes the connection between traditional craftsmanship and cutting-edge technologies, preparing students to excel in the rapidly evolving field of design. The curriculum blends foundational skills like drawing, model-making, and material manipulation (e.g., paper, wood, metal, and plastic) with technologies such as 3D printing, AR/VR, AI, and digital prototyping. Students complete two mandatory co-ops, bridging the gap between academia and industry, reinforcing coursework, and gaining valuable professional experience. To learn more about the Industrial Design program, please visit this link. 

Minimum Education Required:

  • Master’s degree.

  • A Master’s degree in Industrial Design or a related design field (e.g., Master of Design, Master of Fine Arts, DDes, or PhD). 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior university-level teaching and professional industrial design experience.

  • Flexibility in teaching approach to address diverse student needs and interests.

Position Details:

 At this time, the university is unable to sponsor applicants for H-1B visas.

Adjunct faculty compensation varies based on instructional mode (lecture or lab), number of course credits, and program. The minimum adjunct rate is $1,365 per credit.
