EDEC 262-001/002. Media, Technology and Education.

Description: Orientation to the equipment and systems of educational technology. Examination of theories of educational technology, media education and technology education and the exploration and development of possible applications in school settings.

This course is not Team taught or offered online.

Teaching Qualification Requirements (TQRs):

Education

1.MA in a relevant field (i.e. Critical  pedagogy  involving digital technologies  in education;  technology and media literacy applications in education).

2.PhD or equivalent in a relevant field is an asset.

Experience

1.Expert knowledge and experience in: 

  • Pedagogical role of contemporary technological media in education across disciplines 

  • Critical media literacy approaches 

  • Foundational understanding of media education and its core tenets 

  • Basic technology platforms and media production skills 

  • How new media can be used in innovative ways to enhance learning 

2.Experienced in digital technology as a master teacher/instructor in the Quebec educational system 

3.Familiarity with the professional competencies specified by the Ministère de l’Éducation 

Other

1.Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) at the undergraduate or graduate level.

2.Knowledge of the impact and proven record integrating pedagogical approaches anchored to equity, diversity and inclusion. 

3.Familiarity using myCourses, ZOOM and other similar online platforms to facilitate quality teaching and learning experiences.  

4.Familiarity teaching blended classes is an asset.  

5.Familiarity with the application of a variety of digital teaching and learning tools. 

Other information:

1.Commitment to working with a team of committed and engaged instructors. 

2.Must be available to attend course coordination and planning meeting minimum of 2 weeks in advance of course start date.
