POSITION TITLE: Associate Director, Education Research & Evaluation  

REPORTS TO: Director of Research, Center for Antisemitism Research 

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None  

LOCATION: Anywhere ADL has an office  

Grade/Class: Grade F, Exempt, PSA-Eligible

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Associate Director of Education Research and Evaluation manages and supports a growing education research portfolio by designing and conducting in-field studies at the K-12 and higher education levels. This role utilizes advanced quantitative analysis and strong project management to advance the organization's research on antisemitism, prejudice, and bias.  

Responsibilities

Primary:  

  • Support CAR’s education research team lead in managing a growing portfolio of research and evaluation projects related to effective interventions for reducing antisemitism and hate; 
  • Design and implement lab and field-based research studies; 
  • Stay up to date on current trends in K-12 education and social science research on antisemitism and prejudice reduction; 
  • Write materials ranging from brief internal data write-ups to public-facing reports;  
  • Present research findings to both researcher and non-researcher audiences; 
  • Facilitate communication with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring relevant partners remain up to date on CAR’s latest education research and findings.

Qualifications

Skills:    

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;  
  • Solid experience with research design principles and best practices:  
  • Ability to manage quantitative and mixed-methods research projects throughout the project lifecycle. 
  • Experience conducting field research in K-12 and/or college classroom settings;  
  • Ability to analyze data and clearly summarize key findings using a variety of research methods; 
  • Easy facility with statistical analysis software (preferably R);  
  • Knowledge of code management and collaboration in GitHub a plus; 
  • Experience with Qualtrics or similar survey platforms;  
  • Ability to communicate complex quantitative findings to non-research-oriented audiences.     
  • Easy facility with quantitative methodologies, such as multiple regression, factor analysis or other dimensionality reduction techniques, and experimental or quasi-experimental research design;  
  • Knowledge of qualitative methods, such as focus groups and semi-structured interviewing, is a plus; 
  • Experience with data visualization or demonstrated desire to learn; 
  • Knowledge of antisemitism specifically and/or prejudice generally.  

 

Work Experience:    

  • The ideal candidate has several years’ research experience from prior employment, internships, and/or applicable undergraduate/graduate work.  

Education:    

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.  
  • Advanced degree, especially one involving coursework in statistics and research methods, desired.   

Work Environment:  

  • ADL is a hybrid environment; this role will require 3 days/week in the office. 

Compensation:

  • This position has a salary range of $85,000 to $95,000. This salary range is reflective of a position based in New York, New York.
