Position: Registered Nurse (RN) – Pre-Admission

Status: Full-Time (36 hours/week)

Position Overview:

Under the direct supervision of the Ambulatory Surgery Center/PACU Nurse Manager, the Pre-Admission Nurse performs:

  • Assessment with the patient prior to admission via a phone interview or in person
  • Collects the patients medical history from previous medical records
  • Works closely with the anesthesia department in coordinating the patient's needs
  • Performs direct patient care activities for all age groups.
  • Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care for patients in accordance with the plan of care, established hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and standards of care.
  • Provides care for the patients as well as assisting physicians in providing treatment to patients in various medical settings.
  • Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Licensure: Current RN license in the state of practice
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of RN experience
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association
  • Other Skills: Strong clinical skills, effective communication, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Preferred:

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Certifications: ACLS, PALS, and NRP (required for areas where applicable; must be maintained current)
  • Experience: At least 1 year of RN experience
