Job Description:

Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology Technology is at the heart of Disney’s past, present, and future. Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology is a global organization of engineers, product developers, designers, technologists, data scientists, and more – all working to build and advance the technological backbone for Disney’s media business globally.

The team marries technology with creativity to build world-class products, enhance storytelling, and drive velocity, innovation, and scalability for our businesses. We are Storytellers and Innovators. Creators and Builders. Entertainers and Engineers. We work with every part of The Walt Disney Company’s media portfolio to advance the technological foundation and consumer media touch points serving millions of people around the world.

Here are a few reasons why we think you’d love working here:

1. Building the future of Disney’s media: Our Technologists are designing and building the products and platforms that will power our media, advertising, and distribution businesses for years to come.

2. Reach, Scale & Impact: More than ever, Disney’s technology and products serve as a signature doorway for fans' connections with the company’s brands and stories. Disney+. Hulu. ESPN. ABC. ABC News…and many more. These products and brands – and the unmatched stories, storytellers, and events they carry – matter to millions of people globally.

3. Innovation: We develop and implement groundbreaking products and techniques that shape industry norms, and solve complex and distinctive technical problems.

Commerce, Data & Identity provides the core product management functions for areas crucial to Disney’s media businesses. These include initiatives and products that power digital commerce, identity, and growth, as well as those that reach uniquely across The Walt Disney Company enterprise, such as messaging and privacy, among others. Additionally, it is responsible for the data engineering, science, and products for Disney Entertainment & ESPN, along with their interconnection with other parts of The Walt Disney Company.

Job Summary:

● We’re seeking a skilled Full-Stack Software Engineer to design and build intuitive, high-quality user experiences backed by secure, scalable, and high-performance systems that power Disney’s technology ecosystem. In this role, you’ll work across the stack—shaping polished front-end interfaces while also contributing to the backend services that support them.

● As part of a collaborative engineering team, you’ll help deliver tools and applications used across Disney’s diverse portfolio, including Disney+, Hulu, ESPN, and more. Your work will directly impact how internal teams and systems interact with critical platforms, emphasizing usability, reliability, and thoughtful design.

● You’ll collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to translate complex requirements into elegant solutions. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys owning features end-to-end, cares deeply about user experience, and values strong engineering fundamentals across both frontend and backend systems.

● The ideal candidate is a well-rounded engineer with strong front-end instincts, solid backend experience, and a passion for building systems that are both powerful and pleasant to use. While experience with specific technologies is valuable, curiosity, adaptability, and a collaborative mindset matter just as much.

Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:
● Design, build, and maintain user-facing applications with an emphasis on usability, performance, accessibility, and visual polish.
● Implement and evolve backend services, APIs, and data integrations that support front-end functionality and system workflows

● Collaborate with designers and product managers to translate requirements and designs into high-quality, production-ready features

● Architect and implement full-stack solutions using modern frameworks, tools, and programming languages appropriate to the problem space

● Build and maintain secure, scalable systems across cloud and onprem environments

● Ensure end-to-end reliability through testing, observability, alerting, and operational best practices

● Partner with other engineering teams to integrate with internal platforms and shared services

● Engage with internal users to understand their needs and deliver intuitive, efficient tools and interfaces

● Maintain clear technical documentation to support adoption, ongoing development, and compliance requirements.

 Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training:
● 7+ years of professional software development experience, including both front-end and backend work

● Strong experience building modern front-end applications using contemporary frameworks and tooling

● Proven experience designing and implementing backend services, APIs, and data models.

● Demonstrated success delivering production-ready features or systems used by real users at scale

● Proficiency in at least one modern programming language and one modern front-end framework

● Hands-on experience with modern architectural paradigms such as microservices, event-driven systems, and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)

● Solid understanding of web fundamentals, including performance, security, accessibility, and browser behavior.

● Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, with a preference for AWS.

● Ability to produce clear architectural artifacts, technical documentation, and design decision records.

● Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications

● Master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related technical field ● Strong design sensibility or experience collaborating closely with UX/UI designers

● Demonstrated curiosity and enthusiasm for learning new technologies through experimentation or proof-of-concept work

● Interest in solving complex, evolving technical or business problems

● Passion for building clean, maintainable systems with a strong focus on user experience

● Experience working on large-scale or high-availability platforms

● Contributions to open-source projects or a portfolio of personal work (e.g., GitHub) showcasing full-stack development.

Required Education

● Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience.
