Work Shift
- Evaluate and manage patients undergoing bone marrow transplantation and cellular therapies, including pre-transplant assessments, treatment planning, transplant follow-up, and survivorship care.
- Obtain comprehensive patient histories and perform detailed physical examinations.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory studies, diagnostic imaging, pathology reports, and other clinical tests relevant to hematologic and transplant patients.
- Monitor patients for transplant-related complications, including graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), infectious complications, treatment toxicities, and disease relapse.
- Assess treatment response and develop appropriate clinical interventions based on findings.
- Provide longitudinal management for patients with hematologic malignancies throughout the transplant process.
- Recognize changes in patient condition and coordinate timely interventions to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Provide patient and family education regarding transplant procedures, treatment plans, medications, potential side effects, infection prevention, and supportive care strategies.
- Promote shared decision-making and deliver compassionate, patient-centered care throughout the transplant journey.
- Collaborate closely with transplant physicians, pharmacists, nurses, social workers, case managers, and other multidisciplinary team members to ensure seamless care coordination.
- Coordinate referrals, diagnostic evaluations, donor-related testing, and transitions of care between inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Participate in transplant survivorship planning and long-term follow-up care.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.
- Support quality improvement initiatives, accreditation requirements, clinical research efforts, and evidence-based transplant practices.
- Master's or Doctoral Degree in Nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with a Master's degree or higher.
- Current Georgia APRN licensure or eligibility to obtain licensure.
- National certification as a Nurse Practitioner through ANCC, AANP, or another nationally recognized certifying body.
- Current Georgia Physician Assistant license or eligibility to obtain licensure.
- Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Successful completion of all credentialing and privileging requirements.
- Prior experience in Bone Marrow Transplant, Hematology/Oncology, Malignant Hematology, Cellular Therapy, or a related specialty.
- Experience caring for immunocompromised and medically complex patient populations.
- Knowledge of stem cell transplantation, graft-versus-host disease management, and supportive oncology care.
- Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner (AOCNP®) or Advanced Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse (preferred, if applicable).
- Strong clinical judgment, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience managing patients in both inpatient and outpatient oncology or transplant settings.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and patient education abilities.
- Commitment to evidence-based practice, quality outcomes, multidisciplinary collaboration, and exceptional patient care.
