About the Role
As a Tool Engineering Engineer for the Car Audio division, you will be responsible for the deployment, administration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the engineering toolchain that supports global product development programs. You will ensure the availability, security, scalability, and compliance of ALM and engineering tools used across multiple global development sites. Working closely with engineering, IT, cybersecurity, DevOps, quality, and central digital teams, you will enable efficient software and hardware development throughout the product lifecycle. This role plays a key part in driving engineering productivity, process standardization, and toolchain excellence across the organization.
What You Will Do
Own and manage the complete lifecycle of ALM and engineering tools, including deployment, configuration, upgrades, maintenance, and optimization across global Car Audio programs.
Administer tools such as DOORS Next, Polarion, Jira, Azure DevOps, GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins, SonarQube, Artifactory, Jama, PREEvision, and Enterprise Architect while ensuring high availability and performance.
Collaborate with the Central Digital organization to implement enterprise tool strategies, integrations, cybersecurity controls, and technology roadmaps.
Develop automation solutions using Python, PowerShell, and Bash to improve operational efficiency, reduce manual effort, and enhance engineering workflows.
Provide L2/L3 technical support, manage user access, licensing, backups, disaster recovery, and support compliance with Automotive SPICE, ISO 26262, and ISO/SAE 21434 requirements.
What You Need to Be Successful
Proven experience administering and supporting enterprise ALM and engineering tool environments, including IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management (ELM)/DOORS Next, Polarion, Jira, Azure DevOps, and related platforms.
Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle methodologies, Automotive V-Model, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and requirements traceability management.
Hands-on experience with configuration management tools such as Git, SVN, and enterprise tool integrations across complex engineering ecosystems.
Strong scripting and automation skills using Python, PowerShell, or Bash, along with experience working in Linux and Windows Server environments.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to support globally distributed engineering teams.
Bonus Points If You Have
Experience with cloud and container technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, or Microsoft Azure.
Knowledge of enterprise databases such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and Oracle, including performance tuning and administration.
Prior experience supporting global automotive product development organizations and large-scale engineering tool deployments or migrations.
Expertise in PLM ecosystems, requirements management, workflow customization, and advanced traceability implementations.
Experience with ClearCase, Perforce, CodeSonar, Bamboo, RTC/EWM, or other specialized automotive engineering tools.
What Makes You Eligible
Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
8+ years of experience in ALM, engineering tool administration, toolchain management, or related engineering systems roles.
Demonstrated experience managing enterprise deployments, upgrades, integrations, and migration activities within global engineering environments.
Strong understanding of cybersecurity, access management, disaster recovery, compliance, and governance requirements for engineering platforms.
Ability to collaborate effectively with Engineering, IT Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, DevOps, Quality/ASPICE, Program Management teams, and external tool vendors to deliver business-critical solutions.
