Description
An Asphalt Paving Foreman directs and manages workers and equipment, enforcing the company's direction, policies, procedures, safety standards, and scheduling to meet construction deadlines.
Responsibilities:
- Ensuring the safety of crew members and the public who may interact with job.
- Training new crew members.
- Calculating the number of trucks required to haul Asphalt from the plant according to vehicle capacity, traffic conditions, distance from work site, and productivity of drivers.
- Touring job sites to ascertain progress in meeting time schedules, to detect insufficient utilization of workers and equipment, measure slope and material thickness to verify compliance with contracts, and to supervise the job.
- Supervising and coordinating crew activities, studying production schedules, and estimating work requirements for completion of job assignment in compliance with or beating the job estimate.
- Maintaining time and materials records necessary to complete daily job costing.
- Recommends measures to improve productions methods, equipment performance, product quality, and crew performance.
- Work harmoniously, cooperatively, and courteously with others at all times.
- Perform a variety of tasks and duties that may change often as the work conditions require.
- Work within defined standards of accuracy.
- Work in a variety of weather conditions, including temperatures over 85 degrees and below 40 degrees.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction of Asphalt paving.
- Technical skills in concrete paving and compaction operations.
- Must be able to read specifications and plans and calculate job site materials and trucking to maintain budget and job efficiency.
- Good communication skills.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to work as a team to efficiently complete jobs to the highest customer satisfaction.
- Must be able to speak, read and write in English.
- Effective Leadership skills.
- Valid driver's license issued within the United States clear of multiple and/or major violations.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
- Must be able to see and hear well (naturally or with correction.)
- Ability to use arms and hand to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects.
- Ability to do physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks.
- Ability to perform frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling.
