DESCRIPTION
As a Materials Planner / Buyer at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you'll contribute to ensuring the reliable flow of materials through our production cycle to enable scientific discoveries. You'll work closely with suppliers and cross-functional teams to secure material availability, manage purchase orders and delivery schedules, and proactively address shortages or supply risks. You'll use MRP outputs to translate production requirements into supplier actions, follow up on commitments, and drive timely resolution of issues. Through strong supplier communication and continuous improvement of planning and purchasing processes, you'll help support our mission of making the world healthier, cleaner and safer.

REQUIREMENTS

•    At least 3 years of hands-on ERP experience in purchasing, material planning or a related supply chain role; SAP experience is an advantage
•    End-to-end supply-chain understanding and ability to understand the wider impact of planning and purchasing decisions
•    Experience with supplier management, including challenging or underperforming suppliers

•    Advanced communication in English, written and spoken

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

•    Take end-to-end ownership of material supply within the assigned scope, balancing material availability, supplier performance and business priorities.
•    Actively contribute to cross-functional projects and supply chain improvement initiatives, supporting the development and implementation of new processes and scalable ways of working.
•    Own supplier engagement and drive supplier performance, including recovery and improvement actions with challenging or underperforming suppliers.
•    Identify supply risks and improvement opportunities, use data to understand root causes and drive practical solutions.
•    Collaborate across Supply Chain, Production, Procurement and other functions to resolve issues and improve overall supply chain performance.
•    Manage material planning and purchasing activities, including MRP requirements, purchase orders, supplier commitments and planning exceptions.
•    Proactively manage shortages, past-due deliveries, pull-ins, push-outs and cancellations and drive issues through to resolution.
•    Maintain accurate planning and supplier information in ERP and support the standardization of material planning and supplier management processes.
