Would you like to actively shape the digital transformation of biopharmaceutical manufacturing? As a Process Expert (m/f/d), you will play a key role at Novartis by serving as the link between Manufacturing and Automation. You will be the primary point of contact for automation and digitalization initiatives within Upstream Processing (USP) and Downstream Processing (DSP), helping to successfully integrate innovative solutions into manufacturing operations. By evaluating, prioritizing, and coordinating new ideas and systems, you will contribute to making processes more efficient, faster, and future-ready. Working in a dynamic environment, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and make an important contribution to the continuous improvement of our manufacturing processes.

 

Job Description

Your Responsibilities:

 

• Act as the primary point of contact for automation and digitalization initiatives within USP and DSP.
• Coordinate activities between Manufacturing, Automation, and other relevant stakeholders.
• Translation of manufacturing processes into robust, compliant MES PAS-X solutions to support end-to-end production. Define user requirements and translate operational needs into technical solutions.
• Support the implementation of new systems and digital solutions in the manufacturing environment.
• Evaluate and prioritize new ideas and initiatives based on their potential to improve efficiency and productivity.
• Ensure alignment between Manufacturing and Automation teams during new implementations.
• Support the introduction, optimization, and continuous improvement of manufacturing systems.
• Contribute to testing, qualification, and successful deployment of new systems and applications.

Essential Requirements:

 

• Completed technical education (HTL, university of applied sciences, or university degree) in Information Technology, Automation, Computer Science, or a related Engineering discipline.
• Interest in software, digital technologies, and their application in manufacturing environments.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), and electronic compliance requirements.
• Understanding of how new systems and applications are implemented in regulated environments.
• Ability to prioritize requirements and identify the most valuable digitalization and automation initiatives.
• Fluent German and good English language skills.
• Strong team orientation with the ability to motivate others and positively support change.

Desirable Requirements:

 

• Initial knowledge of programming or software development.
• Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), electronic batch documentation systems, or SAP.

Expected Annual Base Salary Range for role: € 60.978,00 do € 89.300,00

The base salary offered is determined based on gender-neutral objectives, such as relevant skills, competencies and experience in accordance with the Novartis pay setting policy and upon joining Novartis will be reviewed periodically.

In addition to your base salary, you may be eligible for a performance-based bonus depending on certain performance parameters.

In accordance with Austrian law, we are obliged to disclose the minimum salary as stated in the collective bargaining agreement. For this position the minimum salary is € 60.977,70 /year (on a full time basis). We also offer a potential market oriented excess payment in line with your experience and qualifications.
