Job Summary:  The Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, Cubic Transportation Systems, is responsible for partnering with the President of the ~$800M Transportation Systems division to deliver growth, improved profitability and cash flow, and return on deployed capital.  As a member of the CTS Senior Leadership Team (CTS SLT) the incumbent will drive project performance and controls including earned value practices and metrics, bid pricing and cost analysis, investment business cases, forecasts and budgets, variance analysis, risk/opportunity analysis, support strategic planning, and operational metrics reporting to facilitate decision making of senior management and achieve results. This position typically works under limited supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for driving the financial performance of Transportation Systems while ensuring proper financial controls
• As a member of the CTS SLT develop the annual operating and strategic plan. 
• Hires, develops and retains a high-performance global finance team.  Responsible for employee engagement, identify and mentor future successors. Coach and build the financial acumen across the business.
• Influences pricing and bid financials
• Drives large scale transformation projects
• Drives large infrastructure project performance and controls including the use of earned value practices and metrics
• Drives lower cost to deploy and maintain our large transportation system projects
• Implements processes and policies to maximize cash return
• Executes business planning, forecasting, reporting and analysis
• Provides deep, analysis-based business insights and influences the organization to act on those insights
• Responsible for business capital allocation decisions via CAPEX, R&D, and other investment decisions.
• Regularly interacts with executive management, sponsors and lenders and requires the ability influence executives in sensitive situations
• Develops and maintains a sound understanding of the strategic needs of the business and proactively contribute to the development of those needs.
• Identifies key financial trends which positively and negatively impact the organization, communicates these impacts on a timely basis, and develops solutions to achieve or mitigate
• Ensures that financial management systems/financial policy framework are supported by internal financial standards and controls that conform with US GAAP and deliver accurate financial statements
• Provides support in due diligence efforts and lead the integration for new acquisitions.

 

Minimum Job Requirements:

Four-year college degree in Accounting or Finance with at least fifteen years progressive finance and project accounting experience required. Minimum of 15 years’ experience with general ledger, P&L and Balance Sheet.   Strong global people leadership skills with a track record of hiring, retaining, and developing global top talent, experience leading teams of at least 10 reports for 5 years.  Ability to identify, summarize and extract key issues from complex contractual arrangements. Ability to build strong partnerships with colleagues, customers and suppliers. Displays an entrepreneurial approach to the business constantly securing opportunities for improvement. Has the ability to communicate a vision & business strategy to the team and formulate plans to achieve the vision. Ability to identify areas of under-performance and agree plans to rectify. Must be self-motivated, pragmatic, influential and able to work independently. Diligent, with attention to detail.  Able to problem solve and find effective and timely resolutions.  Ability to motivate and lead others to achieve individual and shared goals. Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills, culturally aware with a willingness to share knowledge, coach and collaborate effectively with individuals and other departments. Strong organization and planning skills with the ability to multi task and ruthlessly prioritize. Ability to occasionally travel for extended periods domestic and internationally.

Cubic Pay Range:

$300,000.00 - $350,000.00* + benefits.

*Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from our lowest geographic market up to our highest geographic market.

The Cubic pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
