  • $93,656.00 – $126,500.00 

  • Permanent full time, Dunedin location preferred – will consider other locations within Eastern South Island and Southern South Island

te tūranga | About the role 

The Senior Regional Health and Safety Advisor is part of our National Health, Safety and Security team supporting operations teams within an allocated geographical territory, as well as nationally distributed teams.  

You will provide expert technical advice to support, coach and mentor Directors and Managers to fulfil their health and safety responsibilities, enabling staff to uphold safe behaviours and enhance a proactive safety culture. These roles also contribute to the maintenance of a safe and healthy work environment by supporting the development, implementation and monitoring of workplace health and safety systems and processes. 

As this is a regional role, covering a specific allocated geographic territory, some travel within these regions is involved.  

Please note the team are towards the final stages of a Change process and there may be some minor changes to the role title/description post change process. 

 

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience 

If you have some of following, we are keen to hear from you: 

  • Five plus years of experience in Health and Safety in a complex/ high risk workplace with a strong collaborative approach to your working style, including the ability to influence others to achieve positive health and safety outcomes 

  • Wide ranging technical knowledge of health and safety management systems, with a particular focus on critical risk 

  • Problem solver who delivers practical solutions whilst being flexible and adaptable in adjusting your style to work effectively with different people 

  • Ability to work under pressure, here can be times when the workload will be fast-paced and highly varied, so the ability to work well under pressure is a must 

  • Excellent collaboration skills to work cohesively with others in the wider Health and Safety Team, such as the wellbeing, injury management, and occupational health disciplines to deliver well-rounded outputs 

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Workplace Health and Safety Management or similar is a must. Membership to a health and safety professional body e.g. NZ Institute of Safety Management, HASANZ etc is desirable 

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 

  • Current full New Zealand driver licence

Salary: $93,656.00 – $126,500.00, depending on skills and experience.
