Eversource supports work-life balance by offering hybrid schedules for certain roles. Eligibility is based on job responsibilities, operational needs, nature of work and team dynamics. Current guidelines require employees to work at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the third day set by the employee and supervisor based on department needs. These guidelines apply to roles approved for remote work and are subject to change, based on managerial discretion and work performance. The IT Manager – Business Services is responsible for leading technology strategy, delivery, operations, and continuous improvement for enterprise shared services departments, including HR, Payroll, Marketing and Communications, Sustainability, Regulatory, and related corporate functions. This role partners closely with business leaders to understand strategic priorities, translate business needs into technology roadmaps, and deliver secure, reliable, scalable, and user-friendly solutions that improve workforce experience, operational performance, compliance, and business agility.
The manager provides leadership across application portfolios, vendor partnerships, delivery teams, and support services, ensuring that technology investments align with business value, enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, data governance, and regulatory requirements. The role requires strong relationship management, product and portfolio thinking, operational discipline, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams through change.
Essential Functions:
Serve as the primary IT leader for HR, Payroll, Marketing and Communications, Sustainability, Regulatory, and other shared services stakeholders.
Develop and maintain business-aligned technology roadmaps that support workforce experience, payroll accuracy, employee communications, brand and customer communications, ESG reporting, regulatory processes, and shared services modernization.
Lead planning, prioritization, delivery, and operational support for applications and platforms used by assigned business areas, including SaaS, cloud, integration, workflow, analytics, collaboration, and enterprise business systems.
Partner with business leaders to define outcomes, success measures, funding needs, risks, dependencies, and delivery priorities.
Manage delivery teams, product owners, business analysts, engineers, vendors, and shared technology partners to ensure high-quality execution and reliable support.
Drive continuous improvement by simplifying processes, reducing manual work, improving data quality, and increasing adoption of digital and self-service capabilities.
Ensure solutions comply with cybersecurity, data privacy, records retention, accessibility, audit, regulatory, and enterprise architecture standards.
Oversee vendor performance, contract execution support, service levels, financial tracking, and issue resolution for assigned technology products and services.
Support agile, product-centric, and portfolio-based ways of working, including backlog management, release planning, dependency management, and value tracking.
Lead incident, problem, change, and release management activities to maintain system stability and minimize business disruption.
Prepare executive-ready status updates, recommendations, business cases, and decision materials for IT and business leadership.
Develop team members through coaching, performance management, role clarity, feedback, and career development.
Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Technical Knowledge/Skill:
Strong understanding of enterprise application delivery, product management, agile delivery practices, IT service management, vendor management, and portfolio governance.
Ability to translate business strategy into technology capabilities, roadmaps, investment plans, delivery backlogs, and measurable outcomes.
Knowledge of HR, payroll, communications, sustainability, regulatory, and shared services processes, including sensitive data handling and compliance considerations.
Working knowledge of systems integration, application lifecycle management, cloud services, data management, reporting, automation, cybersecurity, privacy, and audit controls.
Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, business case development, cost management, and technology investment prioritization.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex technical topics in clear business language for executives, business partners, and delivery teams.
Strong problem-solving, decision-making, facilitation, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent related experience.
Advanced degree or relevant leadership, agile, product management, ITIL, cloud, cybersecurity, or project management certification is desirable.
Experience:
Minimum of ten (10) to twelve (12) years of progressive experience in information technology, business applications, product delivery, business relationship management, or enterprise shared services technology leadership.
Experience supporting HR, Payroll, Communications, Sustainability, Regulatory, Finance, Legal, or other corporate shared services functions is strongly preferred.
Demonstrated experience managing application portfolios, technology roadmaps, production support, enhancements, and project delivery in a complex enterprise environment.
Experience leading teams, vendors, and cross-functional partners across business, IT, cybersecurity, architecture, data, infrastructure, and operations.
Experience with SaaS platforms, ERP/HCM systems, payroll systems, CRM, content management, workflow automation, reporting, analytics, integration platforms, and cloud-based solutions is preferred.
