Overview
Payments Network Technology is seeking a software engineer focused on performance, resilience, and chaos engineering for critical payment-network services. The role will establish test approaches, execute controlled experiments, and help teams improve capacity, recovery, and operational behavior.
Roles and Responsibilities
• Define performance, scalability, resilience, and chaos-testing strategies for services and platforms.
• Design and execute load, stress, endurance, failover, and controlled failure experiments.
• Analyze latency, throughput, resource consumption, bottlenecks, and recovery behavior.
• Partner with engineering and operations teams to define service-level objectives and production-readiness criteria.
• Automate performance and resilience tests and integrate them into delivery pipelines where practical.
• Document findings, prioritize risks, and track remediation to closure.
• Promote repeatable practices for capacity planning, observability, and failure-mode validation.
• Guide less-experienced team members and independently own complex work from analysis through production support.
Essential Skills
• Experience with performance engineering and tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, Gatling, or equivalent.
• Hands-on experience with Java, Dynatrace, and Java Microbenchmark Harness (JMH) for application profiling, observability, benchmarking, and performance analysis.
• Knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, APIs, messaging, databases, cloud platforms, and observability.
• Experience with resiliency patterns, failover, capacity analysis, and controlled chaos experiments.
• Ability to interpret system metrics and communicate actionable findings.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
All About You
• Experience working in Agile delivery environments and across the software development lifecycle.
• Clear communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to work with globally distributed product, engineering, architecture, operations, and business teams.
• Experience applying AI-driven product validation to improve efficiency, expand coverage, and identify defects earlier in the development lifecycle.
• Hands-on experience using AI-assisted engineering tools, including GitHub Copilot and Claude CLI, to improve engineering efficiency is required.
• Payments or financial-services domain knowledge is preferred.
