Trinity Health Oakland Hospital is seeking a customer-focused Laboratory Services Assistant to support daily laboratory operations and help deliver exceptional patient care. This role combines laboratory office support, specimen processing, patient registration, courier responsibilities, and occasional phlebotomy duties in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Answer laboratory phone calls and provide outstanding customer service.
Register patients and enter laboratory test orders into hospital information systems.
Receive, process, label, and distribute specimens to appropriate laboratory areas.
Ensure accurate data entry, report generation, and result distribution.
Transport patient specimens, supplies, and reports to designated off-site locations.
Assist with specimen collection and phlebotomy as needed.
Maintain compliance with Trinity Health policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Completion of a Medical Assistant or Phlebotomy program, a two-year degree in a biological science/health-related field, or one year of laboratory experience.
Valid Michigan Driver’s License required.
Current Heartsaver (HS) certification required.
Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory orders required.
Strong computer, customer service, communication, and telephone skills.
Ability to type at least 35 WPM.
Phlebotomy and laboratory experience preferred.
