Description:

Job Summary:

The Lease Analyst is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and analysis of oil and gas leases, contracts, ownership information, and lease obligations within Company land systems. This role is responsible for operational, legal, accounting, and land functions by ensuring accurate lease records, maintaining compliance with contractual obligations, resolving ownership and lease issues, and providing reporting and analysis for assigned assets. Responsibilities include lease and ownership record maintenance, lease and payment setup, obligation and compliance monitoring, reporting, and data analysis.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a solid working relationship with interdepartmental Company personnel.

  • Set up oil and gas leases and associated contracts.

  • Review and analyze oil and gas leases for key terms and provisions.

  • Analyze data and enter information into land system quickly with a high level of accuracy.

  • Analyze and maintain mineral ownership records, leasehold interests, and contractual obligations to ensure accuracy of land system data and lease payments.

  • Research, resolve and communicate leasehold discrepancies, ownership issues, etc.

  • Review, calculate and create lease obligations for rentals, bonus, extension, and shut-in payments.

  • Monitor lease obligations and critical dates to ensure compliance with contractual requirements.

  • Maintain various reports using Excel or other reporting tools for management.

  • Maintain electronic lease records and supporting documentation in accordance with company record retention standards.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of oil and gas land contracts and legal instruments.

  • Understanding of lease lifecycle management, production status impacts, lease-saving provisions, and ownership concepts.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience in Quorum Land System.

  • Ability to understand and resolve complex title issues.

  • Demonstrate ownership, initiative, and accountability in managing lease administration activities and data integrity.

  • Proficiency in utilizing Auditor websites and GIS.

  • Excellent written, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Team oriented.

  • Experience with electronic files and scan processes.

  • Ability to perform detailed work with speed and accuracy.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize a diverse and heavy workload consisting of many detailed, separate procedures and deadlines.

  • Create strong work relationships with mineral owners and internal staff.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally in person and using a telephone and in writing.

  • Recognize personal strengths and weaknesses and be proactive in self-development.

Education/Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Land Administration – Leases and Contracts

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience.

Work Environment:

This job operates in both a professional office environment and a field environment.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, tablets, smart phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Requirements:

  • The ability to use a computer or phone for extended periods of time

  • Basic use of office equipment such as copiers and fax machines

  • Ability to lift 10 pounds occasionally

  • Ability to concentrate

  • Ability to sit for long periods of time

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time salaried position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday but can vary due to workload/needs of the company.


Travel:

Occasional travel is expected for this position.
