Job Description Summary

Position Summary

The Workplace Services Technician is responsible for providing hands-on support for workplace operations, including furniture installation, repair, reconfiguration, relocation services, and general facility support. This role ensures workspaces are safe, functional, and aligned with workplace standards by supporting office moves, furniture asset management, workstation installations, and employee service requests. The technician works closely with Workplace Services, Facilities Management, Project Managers, vendors, and business stakeholders to deliver exceptional customer service and maintain a productive work environment.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Furniture Installation & Assembly

· Install, assemble, and configure office furniture, including:

o Workstations

o Modular furniture systems

o Desks and tables

o Ergonomic accessories

o Storage units and filing systems

o Conference room furniture

· Read and interpret furniture layouts, floor plans, and installation drawings.

· Perform workstation reconfigurations to support business and occupancy needs.

· Ensure all installations comply with manufacturer specifications and workplace standards.

Furniture Repair & Maintenance

· Diagnose and perform repairs on office furniture systems and components.

· Replace damaged or worn parts including:

o Task chair mechanisms

o Drawer slides

o Workstation panels

o Electrical and cable management components

o Desk hardware and accessories

· Conduct preventive maintenance inspections to extend furniture life and improve asset utilization.

· Coordinate warranty repairs and vendor support when required.

Move, Add, Change (MAC) & Relocation Services

· Execute employee office moves and department relocations.

· Support large-scale office restacks, consolidations, and decommissioning projects.

· Coordinate packing, transportation, installation, and setup of workplace assets.

· Relocate furniture, equipment, and workplace technology as directed.

· Assist in project planning activities by providing site assessments, furniture inventories, and move logistics support.

· Ensure minimal disruption to business operations during relocation activities.

Asset & Inventory Management

· Maintain accurate records of furniture inventories and workplace assets.

· Track furniture utilization, storage inventory, and redeployment opportunities.

· Identify reusable furniture and equipment to support sustainability and cost reduction initiatives.

· Conduct periodic asset audits and inventory reconciliations.

Workplace & Facility Support

· Respond to service requests related to furniture, workspace setup, and facility issues.

· Set up conference rooms, training rooms, and special events.

· Support workplace readiness initiatives and occupancy changes.

· Assist with workplace inspections and safety compliance activities.

· Maintain storage areas, staging spaces, and furniture warehouses in an organized manner.

Customer Service

· Serve as a primary point of contact for workplace and furniture-related support requests.

· Communicate effectively with employees, vendors, and project teams.

· Deliver timely and professional service while maintaining a customer-focused approach.

· Provide workspace solutions that enhance employee experience and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

Required

· High school diploma or GED.

· 2+ years of experience in furniture installation, facilities support, workplace services, commercial moving, or a related field.

· Experience assembling and repairing office furniture systems (Steelcase preferred).

· Ability to read floor plans, furniture layouts, and installation drawings.

· Proficient with hand and power tools.

· Strong customer service and communication skills.

· Ability to lift and move up to 75 pounds.

· Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Preferred

· Experience supporting corporate office environments.

· Knowledge of Move, Add, Change (MAC) processes.

· Experience with furniture inventory management systems.

· Familiarity with workplace safety and OSHA requirements.

· Experience supporting decommissioning, consolidation, or relocation projects.

· Furniture manufacturer training or certifications (MillerKnoll, Steelcase, Haworth, etc.).

The compensation for the position is: $18.70 - $22.00
