Compensation Range

The base pay scale for this position is $33.00 - $33.00. In addition, this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to: scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. The hiring range listed is a good faith determination of potential compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.

What you will be doing

JOB DESCRIPTION

Per Diem

Shift 2:45pm - 11pm

Saturday & Sunday

Serves as a resource for information and direction; responds to urgent and emergent situations; performs patrol functions and security checks throughout the campus; reports, investigates and documents incidents; controls internal and external traffic; enforces rules and regulations to ensure and maintain a safe and orderly facility.

POSITION & UNIT ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Greet patients, visitors, and staff with professionalism, empathy, and a customer‑first attitude.
  • Provide directions, escort assistance, and general information to support a positive hospital experience.
  • Assist patients and families with mobility needs, transportation inquiries, and wayfinding throughout the facility.
  • Maintain a visible, approachable presence in lobbies, entrances, and public areas to proactively assist guests.
  • De‑escalate emotionally charged situations using tact, patience, and service‑oriented communication.
  • Monitor entrances, patient care areas, and restricted zones to ensure compliance with hospital access policies.
  • Conduct routine foot and vehicle patrols of the campus, identifying safety hazards or suspicious activity.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies, codes, and incidents—providing support alongside clinical and operational teams.
  • Document all incidents clearly and accurately in security reports or digital systems.
  • Support staff with behavioral health patients or visitors exhibiting disruptive behavior, using non‑violent crisis intervention techniques.
  • Coordinate with local law enforcement and emergency services when necessary.
  • Upholds Standards/Expectations of HSS Staff - Attendance - Maintains satisfactory attendance record.
  • Upholds Standards/Expectations of HSS Staff - Reports for duty punctually.
  • Upholds Standards/Expectations of HSS Staff - Adjusts to changing situations and work assignments.

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Intermittent physical exertion Sitting or standing in the same location, as well as the ability to react quickly and/or physically exert as urgent/emergent situations warrant - such as responding to emergencies, walking/running, assisting patients in/out of cars and wheelchairs, climbing stairs and lifting material or equipment of heavy weight (50 lbs. or more) Examples: traversing the hospital campus to perform security checks, escorting patients/visitors/staff, and assisting with evacuation of patients using Emergency Management Equipment.

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Regular exposure to moderate physical discomfort Located in an environment with regular exposure to moderate physical discomfort from fumes or odors, temperature extremes, loud noises and bright lights. Examples: mail clerks, material handlers and food service workers.
