Overview
This is a mid-level position responsible for providing leadership and direction in the attainment of food safety and quality as well as daily/weekly/monthly/yearly operational goals. This position is responsible for the hand-add operatin and providing back-up support to other roles. This position is also responsible for the cleanliness of the general plant area, with an emphasis on the hand-add area.
Responsibilities
- Lead all production employees to maintain Food Safety/Quality standards and production goals are met.
- Ensure we follow safety protocols first followed by feed safety/quality and then customer service.
- Maintain all working areas to the food safety and quality standards set forth by regulatory and 3rd party audit bodies.
- Maintain accurate and detailed production records.
- Lead Daily Redzone Huddles.
- Verify Medication logs throughout shift.
- Inspect materials and finished products for accuracy.
- Escalate any deviations or non-conformances to management in a timely manner.
- Feel empowered to halt production in the event of any process deviations identified.
- Escalate and investigate all non-conforming products and/or documentation.
- Audit bins to ensure they are legible, and bins have a cleanout frequency.
- Ensure all ingredient racking storage is properly labeled and clearly identified.
- Ensure that storage bins and containers for ingredients are always labeled.
- Stage and organize ingredients for mixing operators as indicated on mixing records.
- Maintain accurate and organized documentation of batch records to maintain product traceability.
- Perform general clean-up inside/outside hand-add and finished product area to maintain housekeeping standards.
- Maintain partial bags with clamps and keep organized.
- Train new technicians on procedures, equipment, and safety practices.
- Lead and support hand add techs during daily operations.
- Ensure all equipment is inspected and entered through Redzone.
- Perform bin inventory and ensure bins are properly labeled.
- Provide back-up support for other roles as necessary.
- Available for overtime work on a scheduled or call-in basis, as necessary.
- Assist hands-on in hand add task when needed.
- Operate forklifts to support production.
- Functionally cross-trained in other support roles.
- Other duties as assigned by the manager/supervisor.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Forklift experience preferred.

- Frequently lift/carry objects weighing up to and including 50 pounds.
- Frequently twist, stoop, bend, climb, push, and/or pull.

- Occasionally lift/move/push/pull objects weighing up to and including 55 pounds.
- Occasionally perform overhead lifting of objects weighing up to and including 50 pounds, with or without assistance.
- Vision sufficient to safely perform the specific essential jobs tasks outlined.

- Continuously exposed to outdoor/uncontrolled weather conditions.
