Job Description

As a Senior Production Support Data Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting and maintaining critical data platforms and production environments. This is a long-term L2/L3 support role requiring strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to investigate, resolve, and prevent data-related incidents in cloud-based environments. You will work closely with engineering, infrastructure, and business teams to ensure the reliability, stability, and performance of data systems running on AWS.

Responsibilities

Your Impact

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve complex production incidents across data platforms and AWS services.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures to improve platform stability and reliability.
• Support and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database performance in production environments.
• Investigate data quality, pipeline, and integration issues while ensuring timely resolution of business-critical incidents.
• Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and business teams to coordinate issue resolution and production releases.
• Develop automation scripts and operational tools using Python to improve support efficiency and reduce manual effort.
• Maintain operational documentation, knowledge articles, and support runbooks for recurring issues and processes.

 

Qualifications

Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering and Production Support roles.
• Strong hands-on experience writing and optimizing complex SQL queries.
• Experience supporting and operating AWS-based data platforms and services.
• Strong knowledge of Amazon Aurora, including performance tuning and troubleshooting.
• Experience investigating and resolving production issues within data ecosystems.
• Hands-on experience with Python for scripting, automation, and operational support activities.
• Ability to perform root cause analysis and drive issue resolution independently.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and coordination skills.

Set Yourself Apart With

• Experience supporting Amazon DocumentDB environments.
• Exposure to AWS monitoring and observability tools such as CloudWatch.
• Experience with incident management, problem management, and ITIL-based support processes.
• Knowledge of data pipelines, ETL workflows, and batch processing systems.
• Experience building operational automation solutions to reduce manual support effort.
• Ability to identify recurring issues and proactively implement improvements to system reliability.
