Responsibilities
The Strategic Advisory group is one of the most experienced investment banking teams in the industry, and has been involved in some of the largest, most complex transactions of the past twenty years. Our global team focuses on a diverse set of industries, including, technology media telecommunications, natural resources, power & utilities, industrials, healthcare, and real estate.
PJT Partners’ Strategic Advisory team in Hong Kong is seeking an Analyst with strong analytical and writing skills, who takes initiative, has great attention to detail, works well under pressure, and has the ability to perform both independently and within teams in a boutique investment advisory firm.
Analyst within Strategic Advisory would be responsible for the following:
Act as a key contributor to the execution of transactions, including due diligence, valuation analysis, and the negotiation of contracts and other agreements; work in coordination with senior members of the deal team.
Perform financial and valuation analysis of perspective investment opportunities under consideration, building and holding responsibility of complex financial models.
Contribute to the drafting of presentations and written recommendations of investment opportunities for use by PJT Partners management and review by clients.
Preparation of memoranda for internal and external use.
Conduct financial and other business-related research of targeted companies and key sector trends.
Coordinate the delivery of complex and often time-sensitive processes with multiple stakeholders.
Active involvement in client-facing situations, participating in both internal and external client meetings.
Assistance in the execution of transactions.
Support the mentoring, training, and day-to-day coordination of team resources, promoting team culture
The Analyst will be a critical member of PJT’s expanding Hong Kong team with direct involvement in both deal execution and business development, working on lean deal teams with direct exposure to PJT’s clients and most senior practitioners. The Analyst will work on a wide range of transactions including sellsides, divestitures, acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, joint ventures, equity and debt recapitalizations, private placements and corporate restructurings. In addition, Analysts in the Hong Kong team will gain exposure to the Private Capital Solutions and Restructuring and Special Situations groups, spanning Financial Sponsor Solutions, Structured Liquidity Solutions, Institutional Investor Solutions, and Restructuring and Special Situations mandates. Given the lean nature of our teams, all our bankers are flexible and should be prepared to work in products/sectors/countries outside their main area of focus.
Qualifications
PJT Partners seeks to hire individuals who are highly motivated, intelligent and have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors. In addition, qualified candidates will possess the following:
Top class Master’s Degree from a leading university, with preference for a background in Economics, Finance, Accounting or adjacent areas
Minimum 1 year of relevant Investment Banking experience with particular focus on M&A and Corporate Finance
Fluency in English and at least one additional Asian language is required. Fluency in Korean is strongly preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of key finance and accounting concepts is required
Strong analytical and modelling skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong work ethic and ability to work effectively in lean deal teams
