Legal & Technical Claims
From Global Events to Complex Claims - Be Part of the Solution
Looking for a graduate role that combines problem solving, relationship management and puts you at the centre of major global events? Join Howden's Legal & Technical Claims Graduate Programme and gain hands-on experience helping clients navigate complex insurance claims across a wide range of industries. From global sporting events and financial institutions to aviation and major corporate transactions, you'll play a role in delivering solutions when they matter most.
Our Graduate Programme will build your technical and professional skills while giving you real responsibility from day one, working directly with clients, insurers and industry experts.
What you’ll be doing?
Over two years, you'll rotate through four specialist claims teams, spending six months in each area to build a broad understanding of the insurance industry and claims lifecycle.
You will spend 6 months rotating between the following teams:
Financial Institutions – supporting banks, lenders, investment firms and other financial organisations.
Sports & Entertainment – supporting local sports clubs to global entertainment brands, media companies and major events.
Howden Capital, Advisory & Placement (CAP) – supporting large corporates, investment funds and private equity firms.
Global Specialty – supporting specialised risks within Aviation, Construction, Marine & Cargo, Casualty, Property, Health & Care and Natural Resources.
In each rotation, you'll:
Learn how complex claims are managed from start to finish.
Support senior claims specialists with claim investigations and coverage assessments.
Review contracts and policy documentation.
Build relationships with brokers, insurers and clients.
Develop negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills that will set you up for future success.
On completion of the programme, you will have the opportunity to complete fully funded professional qualifications, such as Chartered Insurance Institute certificate (CII) and/or Solicitor Qualifying Examination (SQE).
What are we looking for?
No experience in insurance is required; we’ll teach you everything you need to know!
You'll be:
A soon-to-be or recent graduate from any degree background who is not currently participating in and has not previously completed a graduate programme with another employer.
Someone who enjoys building relationships and working with others.
Able to get your thoughts and ideas clearly across to others, both in writing and verbally.
A collaborative individual who enjoys working in a team environment.
A keen problem solver who has strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Inquisitive and interested in keeping up to date with major events happening around the world.
To be eligible for our programme, you must have the full and unrestricted right to work in the UK.

Assessment centre: Our final stage is an in-person assessment centre. You'll take part in some fun group activities and meet our team in a relaxed setting. This day is all about getting to know you better and for you to see what it's like to be part of Howden and experience our culture. We'll cover all your travel costs for this day!
